Im off to Tenerife on 12th August, staying in Puerto Colom area but keen to see the rest of the island. Car Hire prices Ive checked out seem very reasonable but Im interested to know how much cheaper it would be to get about by public transport. As a bit of a benchmark can anyone tell me roughly how much it would cost for 2 adults + 2 children (using Bonobus cards of course!) for a return journey from PDLA to Puerto de la Cruz.
And / or Santa Cruz.
Failing that - any other sample fares you can give me would be appreciated
Thanks
We go everywhere by bus, we buy a bono ticket which gives you 30% of your fare, and the further you go the more you save, up to 50%. So that means we go from Los Cristianos to Santa Cruz for half fare. The tickets can be bought in most newsagents, or any shop with the bono ticket sign in the window. Sorry, should mention it is about 3.60 per adult, but might have gone up lately. Also TITSA have a web site, just put titsa tenerife into google.
Thius site contains pdf files of the routes used by the Titsa buses. you will need Adobe reader to view but you could print them out and take with you. The maps you need are the interurbana ones which cover the whole island
Does anyone know if you can purchase Titsa Bono bus cards at the airport? We only have 1 euro left on our old card so wont get very far from the airport to Torviscas.
Thanks
Jean
Browse the shops and you will find a small poster advertising the BONO cards.
On the other hand, get on the TITSA bus, give the driver your destination, put in your TITSA card, and you pay the balance in cash, AT THE CARD RATE,
A winner all the way,
Billyboy.

If you only have one card with 1 euro you will pay one fare at the card rate the other person would pay the full cash fare
one from Sep 2004 has 1 euro
one from Nov 2004 has 1.82 euro
one from Jan 2005 has 9.02 euro
is there an expiry date on Bono Passes and can you take them to the local bus station so that you can merge them together?
well the are only little amounts but I dont intend to use the buses much.
hi i think they only last for 12 months we always get a bono now as they are good value for money
They should only last 12 months although occasionally they seem to work longer Normally we get through at least 3 in a fortnight
does anyone have a rough idea of the adult price for bus ticket:
playa de las americas to santa cruz
and
playa de las americas to puerto de la cruz.
thanks
Have never used the buses, but here's some information on the Bono-Bus Ticket and fares...but the prices are for 2006,so don't know how accurate they'll be.

A single from Americas to Santa Cruz is approx.€7, if you pay in cash. About €3-50 if you use the BONO ticket.
You cannot buy the BONO card on the bus,
Regards,
Billyboy.
You can buy a Bono bus card at the airport- the shop sells drinks, cigarettes and I think it is next to the chemist. Also sold at the Bus station and several shops in pdla. Cost is 12 or 30 euros.
Of to PDLA on 3rd of May and just wondering what to do if we get any cloudy days.Is there a regular bus to Santa Cruz?Is it worth visiting and how long does it take? Also were does it leave from?
The bus to Santa Cruz leaves every 15 minutes. One is an express and the other stops along the way. The express takes and hour and the other an extra 20 minutes. The bus depots is the best place to catch the bus.
Fare one way, paying in cash is approx €7. Pay by BONO card and the cost is approx. half price. Bono cards are good value and cost about €12. Can be used for any number of people and any number of journeys-as long as cash remains on the card.
You need to find an outlet where you can buy the BONO cards. Your hotel should be able to direct you. Watch out for the sign in front of a shop.
Happy travelling,
Billyboy.
Thanks for that, where exactly is the bus depot in PDLA? The nearest hotel to it.
The new congress building is beside it.

We also took the bus. The journey to Santa Cruz was fine but coming back, the bus was really warm. Reckon the air conditioning was broken. .
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts after you go as there isn't many posts regarding Santa Cruz.
there are 2 buses that run that route if i recall correctly one goes direct and the other stops at stops on the motorway along the way
