If you intend on staying close to the Fitness Plus Gym you'll need a bike to get you around - it's a bit of a walk from the beach, shops, restaurants and bars (although Spitfire itself is a nice place not much else around). By the same token if you stay closer to amenities you'll need a bike to get you to the gym??!!
There is a place opposite Spitfire (known to most as the Pink Palace), it's a large Apartment block - you might be lucky and get a room there. Also on the same stretch of road as Spitfire is a place called Golden Nest (ask for Art D'ouro), there are apartments for rent there and it's a little bit closer to The High Street. There are lots of smaller hotels/guesthouses on the Baga Road stretch of Calangute - best to ask around when you arrive and remember to make sure that the price of rent includes electricity and 24hrs water supply.
Good Luck, GFF xx
