Hi All

I hope I am not being lazy as I have skim read the thread. Please could people tell me who they are booking this hotel through ? Is it one of the main stream operators like Thomas Cook or are you all DIYing or Travel Republicing ? Also I guess which way would you recommend as the cheapest/best ?

we booked this hotel through Med Hotels and used Med Summer 10 for a 10% discount. got the hotel for 3 AD 1 CH £940 2 weeks in August. have recently checked and the price has gone up a bit..

sorry meant to say we have done diy this year. the first time we went we used Travel Counsellors. we tried them for this year but i could save about £400 booking the flights myself so decided to do diy.

Sorry who have you got your flight with ?

we go from Newcastle so theres only Thomson and Thomas Cook. 2 flight a week. we got our flight with TC £1600+100 for meals and extra baggage. prices for thomson are about £2300 for flights this August and Thomas Cook have gone up to about £2100. Next years prices are gonna be even worse!!! priced with thomson for next year for a package and its coming up at over 5 Grand.

we`ve been to this hotel before in 06, we went with friends who went back last year and we are going with them again this year. it is a lovely hotel which is why we are going back..

when we went in 06 for a week in june it cost us £1025 for everything, flights, hotel, transfers and the extra £25 was for a bigger room..makes you wonder how things change so much.. i`m sure you will get cheaper flights if you go from a better airport. we don`t drive so have to go from Newcastle..God only knows how much the taxi fare will be this year!!!!
would also like to say that this price i`ve paid is in the school holidays and my kids are 15 and 13. if you go throuigh Med Hotels the child ages go up to 14 and i`ve got my 13 yr old free for this hotel. go through a proper travel company and there child prices usually stop at 12..

Mine are 15 &13 and we also go in school hols, but Easter'ish' not the six weeks. So I could still get a CP for the one who will be 14 by the time we go, which would be good.

I am probably in a better position to get cheaper flights than yourself as I can go from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted which normally have the most competative prices. ( must be one of the few advantages of living down Sarffff )

It must be good if you are going back a second time.

i`m on Med Hotels a lot so will let you know when the hotels for next year come up. if you wanna do diy you can find discount codes on here. this year is my first DIY but when i booked with Travel Counsellors the paperwork was flights, hotel(med hotels) and transfers(med hotels), just sheets of paper which you have to show when you get there. I have done it myself this year and have printed off the same sheets of paper and saved a lot of money..

Thanks again. I will keep my eyes open for deals with them. Not DIYed to Sharm, but having now been twice, I would be happy to give it a go if it saved me a lot of money. If there wasn't much in it I would probably still stick with a package, but I am open to anything really.

Hey Doe n Sharon,

Just wanted to add that we booked DIY with this is travel and xl airways end of July, hotel £1084 for 2 adults and 2 children 15 nights, xl flights £1700 (gatwick), loads cheaper than our normal source (olympic holidays wanted £3750) although I have found out that you can book just the hotel through them as well, all done on the net of course!

Sharon, have you booked a transfer or will you be wanting a taxi or two ? if so you can email the hotel on grm@royalalbatros.com.eg, address your mail to Romy who is the guest relations manager and he will arrange a taxi to pick you up, he has arranged our,s at a cost of £12, will save all the haggling when we get there! he can also arrange your room allocation for you if you know where you want to be!

i`ve booked the transfers through med hotels. the hotel room i didn`t ask for anything specific but wished i`d asked for a pool view, then again i would like to upgrade to a family room if they have any going, would it be possible to email them about that or just try to upgrade when we get there..

Originally I had booked a promo room and at the time I did,nt realise they were all at the back of the hotel in the quiet area, I too wanted to be pool facing and at the front with a sea view, Romy explained this to me when I enquired as to the room allocations.

I then upgraded with my travel guys to a family room, re-confirmed it with Romy and he has now allocated us a family room facing the active pool.

I did try to blagg room 116 (a Royal Suite) but he,s not too keen at the moment to let me have it, but let him know you are a repeat customer and he will really look after you, he can arrange your upgrade as well if your travel guys have run out of family rooms, he deals in Euros though so make sure you get the exchange rate right.

So don,t be afraid to email Romy, he is only too happy to help and his English is pretty good too!
