I have not been to the Calas for many years but the beaches will not have changed due to geography.

There are 3 beaches in walking distance of the resort. The largest is the Domingos close to the Hotel Samoa. It is not particularly big and gets crowded given the number of beds in the resort. Walk over Domingos and you get to Playa Tropicana. A bit smaller. This used to be less crowded as a) it was farther to walk and b) the back of the beach was not as developed (There was a Pontins there when I last visited)! However I believe that there has been a lot of development behind this beach.

There is a tiny beach just below the Mastines/Chiohajas hotel complex. which is used (or used to be used) by the residents of the 3* Sol hotel further up the valley.

Thanks for that it's just that i have never been to Callas de Mallorca but have been to Sa Coma and loved it,the beach there is fantastic.I'm thinking of booking the America for June and all in all the hotel looks alright and the price is great but I was just wondering what the resort was like,we like a quiet resort and Callas de Mallorca looks ideal.
By the way are the beaches sandy?

Yes the beaches are sandy, but down hill to get to the beach and a steep climb back at the end of the day

I was actually quite disappointed with cals de mallorca as it is a purpose built resort with no mallorquian character. Just a complex of shops, bars and resturants surrounded by a few hotels. There are poor public transport links although you can get the boat to porto cristo. We only stayed there for a weeks break and i have to say that was long enough. Having said that it was ideal for my children who were younger then and didnt need much to entertain them, although it cost me a fortune in bouncy castles and rides .

my friend went to hotel america in callas de mallorca, hated it said they were plagued with ants, and the room was to small for the 3 of them also the food wasnt very good, i havent been to this place but went to sa coma in july loved it the beach was brilliant i also loved sillot next door to it hope this helps.
