Mobile numbers are all 9 digits starting with a 6.

The number of a good divorce lawyer in the UK would probably start with 0208.

I've had various things on my caller display, depending on the phone provider in Spain. I've had "International" , "Unavailable", a series of dashes, and also various 9 digit numbers.
My Daughter once rang me 3 times from the booths in the hotel foyer, and depending on which booth she went in, they all had a different number. I agree it can be confusing....... .....hope this helps, Linda.

Linda thanks for your response, when you say you have had several different 9 digit numbers did any look like mobile number, mine started with 0780.

VoIP technology gives some odd results at times. If it was a Telefonica payphone on a street corner, I would
expect them to use old-fashioned land-line cables which would show up on a caller dispay as 'international'.
Non-Telefonica payphones are springing up everywhere which use "VoIP", as do internet cafe call booths.

VoIP calls use the internet until the call gets to the UK where it goes into the BT system as a local call. It
seems likely that your caller was in a phone booth. It's difficult to pin-point the origin of a call nowadays. As
an example, I have a Malaga number that rings here in Lancashire. When I make a call on it, the other party
gets the Spanish number displayed !

I don't think you should be losing any sleep over it.

I used a site that allows you to type in a mobile number to see what network that number was first allocated to and it came up as T mobile and it was first allocated in May 2005.

If it were me, I would dial it and see who answers in that case !

Cheezyweezle, funnily enough, yes I have had one that started with 07, it was from Tenerife though, and it was a payphone as her money ran out.
Personally I think that all sorts of numbers are coming up on caller ID.
If you are in any doubt whatsoever, I would do as Mike suggests and call the number to see who answers.

I have tried to ring from my mobile serveral times and each time it says we are not able to connect your call please redial, then it comes up on my screen as call rejected, Im not sure what this means surely if it were a mobile and it were switched off it would say this persons phone is switched off.

In that case it suggests to me that it is, in fact, a payphone that does not accept incoming calls.
This is not unusual, as it also happens over here. If it were a mobile, and switched off, it would go straight through to voicemail, or you would get something like "The mobile phone you have called is switched off"
IMO it does appear to be a payphone. I know quite a lot of bars that have payphones that do not accept incoming calls. Linda.
