Hi, we are planning on taking the family camping this summer for a week and have found a nice camp site near Newquay.
We have never been camping before, well not in a tent anyway.
First of all, will the weather be better at the start of August (1-15th) , or the end of August? or will it just be the same?. I should have said would there be much rain or sun
Now, what are the essentials that we should take?
So far i have come up with a 6man tent for 2 adults, 1 child (6years), and 2 teenagers ( our little brothers).
Clothes (waterproof jackets etc , but we will try and pack lightly as theres washing machines on site).
Disposable BBQ'S.
Money
My brother wants to take a portable TV , not sure why as we plan on being out most of the time, and i think taking the PSP with a selection of films will be adequate.
An extension lead? to charge our phones.
a travel kettle.
a gas stove.
cheap pots etc from ikea
Some form of lighting ( not sure where to get these from)
Sleeping bags and airbeds ( might just get airbeds and take duvets to save on cost).
If theres anything i have missed can you tell me?
thanks
Sorry i forgot to mention that this campsite lets you have an electric hookup, or an electric hookup with water and drainpipe.
Which would be suitable for a tent?
If we do not get the drain and water, would this mean we would have to walk to the main water supply on the park? this is no big deal but i presumed that the drain and water supply would be better suited to a caravan rather than a tent?
many thanks
We stayed at Trevornick,Holywell Bay,it had a nice pool with lifeguards,we really enjoyed it there,my daughter lives in Newquay so they spent most of the week with us there,as there are 4 of them and 3 of us it would have been too many for their smaller house but as they have moved we now stay with them.T.
It seems ideal for us.
I know you can get an electric hookup , but what would we need to take with us to use it? is there any special equipment? or can we just plug something into it?
Hi ,if you don't get any answers posted I can ring my daughter later and ask her,it was their tourer and it was already set up for us when we arrived, something we found really handy and we use it a lot is a plug-in cool box,it plugs into the car lighter and we also bought an adaptor so that we can plug it into an ordinary socket,we take it when we go away for weekends and stay in a travelodge,we bought ours from asda and the adaptor from woolies but most camping shops would sell them.T.
Thanks very much
Hi ,haven't forgotten to ring my daughter, she's been out all day, will try again tomorrow.Tina.
hi,yummymummy,Rachel rung this morning,I asked her what you'll need,a waterproof electric hook-up,from a camping shop.Tina.
If you go to a large caravan and camping dealership they have all sorts of bits and pieces which you may not have thought about and will be able to give you expert advise on lighting and anything else you need to know.
