I booked a holiday last weekend to travel in july next year ..i paid the minimum deposit of £50 per person plus insurance total £350.
Where we booked is Club Belizia nr bodrum its look great in the brochure & the agent went through a few reviews which were all good ..but since last weekend ive been looking at reviews on HT & other sites and to be honest i really dont want to take any chances with my 3 youngsters aged 2 8 & 10. mainly because 3 of us are asthmatic which has never posed a problem on previous holidays. Last year we where in a hilly location which wasnt bad..bit there seems to be quite strong reviews on the amount of slopes & stairs in this place
Whats my chances of changing this or cancelling would i lose my deposit ?..booked through thomas cook.
Thanks
Angie
Problem here is the £50 low deposit would be increased to a higher deposit if you cancelled as most low deposits have some small print with them saying if you cancel you have to pay the full deposit!
You will be chargaed a few by Thomas Cook to do this. anyway don't you have a cooling off period from when you have booked your holiday in case you change your mind. give them a ring and ask them
There are no cooling off periods when you book a holiday.
A friend of mine booked a holiday to Cape Verde with Thomsons before reading reviews . They decided to change but the holiday they then wanted to change to was with another TO so they made a new booking with them and to save their depoit from going down the pan they changed the original one with thomsons to a weekend break at obviously a fraction of the original cost to Cape Verde . Probably didnt cost them much more than the deposit they had already put down and would have lost.

Thanks folks i will probably go down and have a chat with TC see what they can do for me.
angie i had the same problem as you, although not for the same hotel. I booked through Thomas Cook local branch for June next year, agent went through some reviews which sounded good, came home and did my own research and was in tears!!! i went back in 4 weeks after i booked it because i couldn't decide what to do, they charged me £35 per person to change my entire holiday and I kept my deposit and everything I'd paid, was just £105 (3 of us) amendment fee. Its supposed to be £35 per person per change but when the agent phoned the head office they said because it was so far in advance they'd do it for £35 per person flat rate...and i changed EVERYTHING...dep airport, arrival airport, date, hotel etc etc.
The hotel looks great in the photos too..we went to lykia last year which had a few steps & slopes which we managed ok but any steeper than that i wouldnt be too confident.
i went into beliezeand asked the manager if i could look round...it looked lovely....
email the hotel a lovely email, explain how old the children are ect, and ask if its possible to have a low room....
if you need answers quickly then phone them....make sure you get the name of who you speak too...
Well folks i have now changed my holiday didnt want to take any chances with my 3 youngsters. TC was kind enough to do it for me with no extra charges. We had to change the destination to Lanzarote which accomodates the 5 of us in a 2 bed apt.
Well done Angie. Have a brilliant holiday
