Have booked flights for next Feb. Will have a 3 year old with us and a 6 month old. Nightlife not important - good nights sleep is!!.
So, need somewhere with good sheltered beach, lots of activities/play areas for the 3 year old, plenty of places to eat (doesn't have to be English - we'll try anything), 10-15 minutes walk to centre/beach as don't particularly want to hire a car. It must be quiet at night, I'm not a night owl any more!!!!!!!!!
Have set my heart on Caleta but have heard differering reports. One report made it sound a bit like Blackpool - please tell me otherwise!! So looked at Corralejo but if it's windsurfers paradise then surely the waters will be too rough for the kids?
Can anyone help me out??
Debs
Calletta sounds best for you but if you want real beaches Costa Calma is worth looking at however it is mainly a hotel basedresort so restaurants are limited and it is 90% German.
We did go to Corralejo for the day and to be honest the harbour area was lovely but I did not think much of the rest of it and was pleased we were staying in Caleta.
Beaches at Jandia are well worth a visit they are glorious. I could spend a day or two there lying on the beach, but probably no more.
I suppose everybody has their own idea of what makes a great holiday !
hi debs.the first time we went to fuerteventura,my daughter was just 2,and we went to caleta.it was lovely.she had hours of fun on the beach.we were at the back of the resort, but everything was within walking distance.we have also stayed in corralejo, but the beaches are not as good, unless you go to oliva beach, which is stunning, but very windy, too windy to be comfortable for us.my daughter is 8 now,and we are heading back to corralejo in 5 weeks time.i must say werever we have stayed, you could never call it 'blackpool'.just lovely
hi debs, congratulations on your forthcoming first visit to fuerteventura. hubby and i have been going to caleta for the past four years now, we hate blackpool, caleta is absolutely nothing like blackpool. we have been to various places on the island, but we prefer caleta. like others have said it depends on what you like. two of our friends came over half way through our hols last year, they are now fuert. lovers too. when we come over again in just over three weeks, our daughter and her boyfriend are coming over for the second week. her boyfriend has never even been abroad before. so he is doubly excited. i think you will have a great time in caleta, but wherever you go on the island you will have a great time. enjoy
Im sure that wherever you choose to stay in Fuerteventura, you'll have a fantastic time because the island is beautiful.
We stayed in Corralejo, at the Oasis Dunas Apartments. The complex is perfect for families, with large, low-rise apartments all set around the large central pool. The complex is located about 5/10 mins walk from the centre of Corralejo, and about the same distance to the beaches, one of which is sheltered from what i can remember. Also the waterpark is located opposite the apartments and the amazing sand-dunes are a short taxi/bus ride away. I understand that this property is a featured 'Family First' complex with Mytravel.
You can find reviews of this property here and here
There is a dedicated HT forum for the Oasis Dunas Apartments here
Here are some photos of the complex, as well as the following which i took myself:
Entrance
Pool by day
Pool in the evening
Bedroom
Lounge area
Wherever you choose to stay im sure you'll have a great time. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. Hope this helps,
Suddy
