Hi there
I wonder if any of you know that if I have paid for flights by credit card they will be covered for cancellation due to illness. My husband and I were due to fly to Larnaca this Sunday but he has been quite ill and had to be admitted to hospital on Saturday. Unfortunatley our annual insurance ran out not long after he became ill therefore could not be renewed covering his illness.
Regards,
Gail
Have you checked with the insurance company,if they may be covered still as you bought them whilst still insured?
Your credit card might have 'free insurance' included - do check as many people forget about this.
As for claiming back under Section 75 of the Credit Card Act - no. The company have kept their side of the contract, and it is not their fault your insurance ran out. Sorry. You could always appeal to the nicer side of their nature. If nothing else, they might carry over your deposit to a future booking.
I agree that you should check. If you have proof that your husband was 'unfit to travel' whilst you were still insured then you may be ok.
