It looks like Paxos is out of our budget this year not unless we go in maybe may! We are looking to go in August second last week perhaps however the prices are unbelieveable. My daughter was in paxos last year and loved it, I also hear it is very safe for children and teenagers!
My daughter would like to go for 4 weeks but that is out of the question unless i could rent a beach hut.
Anyone else have recommend a holiday that does not cost a fortune and it safe like paxos?
Many thanks
Most of Greece is perfectly safe, just find a family oriented resort rather than a "lively" resort and you'll be fine.
You could also have a look at Olympic Holidays. I have read some reasonably good reports about their Bastas complex in Lakka. Also, for the last couple of years, there have been some really good last minute bargains going - if you're brave enough to hold out long enough. Some of the sites to check out regularly for offers are Planos, Travel a la Carte, Simply Travel, Tapestry and Spirit of Greece.
Don't completely rule out going in May. Our first visit to Paxos was in May 1992 and because the temperatures hadn't yet reached scorchio we were able to really explore the island and fell completely in love with it! (14th holiday there this year!) The sea's a tad chilly at that time of year, but there's still plenty of sun.

I've only been to Paxos "out of season" - in 2002 in September when the weather broke very early - had an excellent holiday, still came back with a tan even though we were literally wading through the streets of Gaios....and last week in May/first in June in 2004, it must be me cos I brought the storms again! Had a great time though - walked loads, managed a couple of swims, watched energetic souls water ski-ikng in Lakka Bay and came back tanned and relaxed - highly recommended - and at that time of the year everything smells so FRESH!
thanks for all the info- the prices i read through were £659.00-£759 .00 pp for a week in paxos! seems a bit steep for me!!
Just had a quick look on Kosmar - the Eritha apartments come out at £459pp departing Gatwick 7 or 14 August for a fortnight - seems like a good deal to me!!
Whats lakka like in comparison to loggos? ie. beaches, money wise etc?And would a teenager get fed up or is their plenty to do and see? I was attracted to loggos as it is not over crowded and my daughter daid she felt safer in loggos than in the uk!
The walking's easier than Loggos as the hills out are (quite as) steep and there are some smashing short walks.
Having talked to Xenos in the past we thought that Lakka is more expensive for eating than Loggos. Nionios is comparatively good value though.
Loggos apartments- anyone know what these are like. Found them for £118 pp for a week peak season not inclusing flights but it seems very good and also means we can stay in loggos.
I've been trying to work out exactly where they are from the view through the balcony window, but I can't quite picture it. Loggos is so small though that you're never too far away from everything else wherever you stay and if it meant the difference between going to Paxos and not going, I'd definitely go for these!
thanks for the advice it is much appreciated.
Ionian Villas - 15 mins from loggos anyone stayed here?
here
As you seem keen to stay in Loggos, you should be aware that the GBV's are rather remote and I'd say that 15 minutes from Loggos is extremely optimistic. Well, you could probably walk into Loggos in 15 minutes, but in the August heat, or after a few drinks at night on the dark paths, I'd reckon probably more like half an hour for the mostly uphill walk back. They do have a shuttle bus, which I've seen in the village occasionally, but I don't know how often it runs.
Personally, I'd go for the Spirit of Greece apartments or others in the village centre. There are a few places advertised here which are bookable directly with the owners.
Do you mean the ones on the Glyfada Beach Villas complex? There are some positive (although mostly rather old) reviews As you seem keen to stay in Loggos, you should be aware that the GBV's are rather remote and I'd say that 15 minutes from Loggos is extremely optimistic. Try Routsis travel, in Lakka see what's about Finikounda (SW-Peloponnes), that is 50 km away from Kalamata? Nice area, nice clean and clear see.

has lakka got a beach? Or is their one in walking distance.
No lager louts or nightclubs, highlight of the day is the ferry and the odd daytrippers boat from Corfu which is gone by late afternoon.
Is the water clear, I know they have Spikey normans in loggos beach and it was not good for swimming?
If you mean sea urchins, then yes, you'll find them off just about every beach on Paxos. But the water's so clear that they are easy to spot. If it really worries you, you can always wear jelly shoes to swim in - lots of people do - but I've been going to Paxos since 1992 and always swim barefoot several times a day while I'm there and have never trodden on one yet.
