After 8 years of saying we are engaged we decided to make it offical and went to Chandra's opposite the Dona Alcina.
I chose an 18kt gold and diamond ring that needed to be re-sized. When we went back to collect it there were marks on one of the diamonds which the guy said was from polishing. He said they would re polish it and to go back in 1 hr.
When we went back there were gouges and pits on 3 of the diamonds which he denied at first. I could see them with the naked eye and didn't need an eye-glass. We were really disappointed. He said he would make a brand new ring for me - he didn't want to remove the stones as they were channel set.
We went back a few days later to collect the ring and it is absolutely stunning. The craftmanship is excellent, and he put slightly bigger diamonds in at no extra charge. We are so pleased with it, and thank you for the recommendations. We were suspicious at first, but he really came through.
Although we didn't spend thousands of pounds on the ring, he made us feel like it was as important to him as it was to us and it made the hoiliday even more special.
Nice to hear you got sorted - I am one of many who reccomended him having had no trouble over the years, and only good quality gems off him.
I too would recommend him. He made me a beautiful ring a few years back. I am one of those idiots that wash up with rings on and lost a diamond. The following year I took it back for a replacement, expecting to pay. He did it free of charge, made it look like brand new.
I also lost a stone from a ring and got a quote for £450 to get it replaced when I explained to the jeweller that I was returning to Goa she suggested that I took it back, because she could find a stone of such good quality to replace it, I did that and again he replaced free of charge.
Only complaint is that it costs my husband a fortune each year because I always insist in calling in just to have a look!!!!
We to always use Chandras first time we had a gold cross with diamonds made from our own design he quoted us £190 but when he had finished he said he had put more diamonds in than he quoted but as a gentleman he would stick with the price. When we got home we had it valued at £1050 at Samuels.
