Question:
I am fully aware of the Money Laundering regulations but can anyone tell me why if I simply want to change £100 into euros that I need to go through the hoops of identity checks as much as if changing £10,000?
My wife, an M&S card holder wanted to get some euros and was refused at M&S because she did not have her driving licence etc.
She could however go into the store and spend much more without any fuss.

I change my holiday cash at Co-op Travelcare and have never been asked for ID, just my name and address, and no proof of that either...
I too go to Co op,just leave name and address.
If you go to a post office they will just hand it over the counter, no probs.
I think if you're using a card you need ID. I've tried before with my debit card and they wanted passport type of ID. If you're using cash then it's obviously fine, I take the cash now - less hassle.
