Only available at selected airports with Thomas Cook - and regretfully not at Cardiff for you or Manchester for me.

hm, very odd and misleading. Page 5 of ticket booklet says on-line check-in for your flight is available from mon 26th Aug. Then on page 13 it lists the airports where 0n-line check in is available and as Helen says Cardiff isn't listed :que Why bother giving me a date when i can check-in then? :duh

Different airlines have different policies. With Ryanair you can check in up to 15 days before your flight(s) so if you are on a fortnight's holiday you are able to check in for your return flight at the same time. With BA you can only check in 24 hours before (not a minute earlier) so you either have to find somewhere abroad to check in for the return journey or do so at the airport. With BA they allocate your seat and you can either accept it or change it.

Online check-in is available for Thomas Cook flights at Cardiff. It was introduced at the beginning of the summer season.

Thanks Caaardiff,

I will be trying that on Monday :)

Whoopee!! - any idea where the bag drop off point is Caaardiff. Shame I'm going from Machester this time. You can only use on line check in for hand luggage there and only a few airlines do it.

You can only check in online with Thomas Cook if you have opted to do your seat your choice.

To be honest I have never found that using the online check in is any different or quicker to just checking in at the airport. Last year the Jet2 queues for the quick baggage drop were longer than those for standard check in and they still asked the security questions etc anyway.

I suppose checking in before you go should be easier but because you are indeed doing it yourself it's also just something else to fret about and I always worry that I have typed my API in incorrectly or something and I will be stopped at the gate :(

whoopee, I'm all checked in and ready to go, eventhough we don't fly until next Monday :rofl

found the process very easy and self explanatory. I just hope there won't be queues at the baggage drop off. If the queue for the airport check in is a lot smaller I shall just go there instead- so nothing to lose by checking in on line. Turkey here I come!! :sun2 :cheers

This is a new service that Thomas Cook offer from May this year. I chose my seats and booked in online the other day. It didn't give me the option to check-in for the return journey, but was very easy. I have printed off my boarding passes and it says if I have hold luggage to proceed to the drop bag section (at least 1 hr before departure). I'm going from Gatwick South.

Shirley H did you find the process of checking in online straightforward and were there any benfits to this , we pre-booked our seats to zante yesterday and it came up that we could check in online from 03/08 , i like the idea of this to get rid of the luggage earlier.

I always like to check in on line if it's available and find it very straightforward. Just something else I can do in the comfort of my home without having to shuffle along in a long queue. I only wish more were like the despised Ryanair, who let you do it up to 15 days beforehand for outward and return flights.

Monarch scheduled will let you check in 18 days prior and Jet2 will let you check in 28 days prior.
