Hi there sunnypop, never been with kids - just me and the wife, and yes it is a tiring trip. How old is the little one ? - some can cope others can't. 2 and half hour flight to Delhi for starters, and then straight off the plane for a tour of Delhi and then at your leisure for the rest of the night. Up 5.30 next day for train to Agra and then by mini bus to Taj all other temples and sightseeing along the way, back at Agra station for train to Delhi (should have been 10.30pm but came at midnight) not a nice station to sit in,full of beggers and tourist touts pestering you - a long trip a lot of driving and that time of year is far far hotter than Goa (it was 42c when we were there). Adults yes, kids no.
Thanks Spike, the little one is 10, its actually her thats desperate to go. It would be more likely me struggling with the journey lol.. I think we will be using daytripper for a couple of other trips so il take a couple of days to think about it when we arrive Im glad you mentioned how late that train was and the conditions of the station its good to be prepared. Thanks
We also went to Jaipur which was fantastic but the journey there from Agra is 4-5 hours in a taxi. You arrive in Jaipur at 9-10pm, having started the day at 5am to get the train from Delhi to Agra.
I guess it depends on the 10 year old but I think I would have struggled with mine when they were that age. Also agree with Spike about the stations! While we awaited the train from Jaipur to Delhi we watched the biggest rats I've ever seen in my life running about on the tracks. You could have put a saddle on 'em!
The Taj and Amber Fort in Jaipur are wonderful and we're so glad we did it but it's a demanding trip.
Thanks for the replies, Ithink i shall take your advice and wait until she is a little older. Also i couldnt imagine getting up at that time on a morning. There is no way im takin my alarm clock on hols Thanks!
