How far is that Playa de Arena from the airport?
Los Christianos and Las Americas are busy and friendly and about 20 minutes from the airport!
Regards,
Billyboy.

Personally feel that Los cristianos and Las americas are far too busy for us, we like a quiet, chilled holiday, but like to have some restaurants within walking distance to save hiring car. beach is really important as kids love the sand and sea

Any resort suggestions or info on Playa del arena most welcome.

Thanks

Hi Christybell why not have a look at this web site click here. You'll find this resort quiet when compared to the likes of Playa de Las Americas and is better suited to those who like a quiet stroll in the evening after dinner and watch the sun go down over La Gomera. The Playa de Arena hotel is situated facing the sea and you get great views. Please if you can try a little tapas bar called Bar Dorta it is located near to the Los Dragos hotel which is in the next resort, Puerto Santiago, towards Los Gigantes. All the food is home made and is very good value for money.

Oh the resort is about 40mins from the Reina Sofia airport in the south of the island by taxi.

THe best beach & safest sea for kids is probably at El Medano but it is pretty quiet Google it & read about it it could be for you the one drawback could be the wind

Would not reccommend the sea at Playa de Arena for children as it deepens very quickly

Thanks for your info re the sea, this is the problem when you dont know a resort and why forums like this are a life saver. I will have a look El Medano as this is one i have not considered.

Thanks again

We've been to Playa de la Arena three times now and it is a very nice little resort. However the beach, whilst blue flag clean, is black sand and always reminds me of a coal yard. Nothing like the lovely golden sands of Playa Blanca !! Other than that it would probably do you nicely and the hotel Playa la Arena is excellent and reasonable money if you book direct with Spring Hotels.

If you definitely want a nice (golden sand) beach, then I personally would look at the Costa Adeje end of PDLA. The beach at Duque is one of the best on the island with some lovely hotels in the surrounding area, though some can be very pricey.

Thank you for your replies, I had a look at El Medano and it did look promising, however, I am having problems trying to find accommodation for us (2 x adults, 2 x kids), the hotels I have found sleep 3.

I also feel that los Cristanios may still be too busy for us, we really do like it quiet

I am now thinking Playa la Arena, in a hotel with good pools if the beach doesnt suit, that will still give me my much hankered after sea views.

Nay suggestions most welcome.

Thanks again

I still feel that El Medano would suit your needs. We stayed at Hotel Medano in November, right on the beach, the hotel actually is partly in the sea on stilts. Hotel is only 3*, but has been refurbished recently, clean and fab location. Sea is safe and beach is good.
If you decide to stay at this hotel, book a superior room, extra £7 night, it's worth it. The resort is quiet, good bus service to other resorts(very cheap fares). Fab to watch wind surfers. Playa Arena is more built up area, beach is not as safe as El Medano, long way from airport, but it's a choice for you to make.
Whatever you choose, enjoy!!

Medano is a bit short of hotels only two however there is plenty of self catering available including some on the beach

Give the Tourist office a ring Esther who runs it is great very helpful speaks English & German fluently she loves promoting Medano Tel 0034922176002
