Hi Rosie,

Can't speak for Alanya specifically but I can tell you that most resorts embrace Christmas in Turkey - not least as a money spinner :) - in Fethiye there are around a dozen hotels and restaurants doing the full Christmas dinner, one has had to do 3 sittings!

As for general opening, obviously Christmas is nothing as far as business goes, so most shops are open, nowhere that is open out of season will close due to Xmas.

The downside is that Christmas Day is just another day here, and we have to get permission for our kids to miss school on the 25th!

When we moved here we bought an artificial Christmas Tree to bring with us - obviously you can't get them in Turkey - wrong again! Migros is full of trees, tinsel, baubles and the whole works.

Hope that helps, if only a little.
