Hi,Everyone,
After miserable Christmas in Lake District watching torrential rain, really fancy Turkey this year. What is the weather usually like, and can we get a flight or package from Manchester over Christmas period?
We usually go to Turunc, near Icmeler, but it closes down after October.
Any ideas would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Linda
If it's the chance of half-decent weather you are after then the best option would be flying to Antalya and staying in the Side/Belek areas. Flights are available year round. Plenty of packages available, although prices are more expensive over the holiday period, just as they are in Summer. Try flythomascook if you are looking at DIY.
One other suggestion would be to try Istanbul. We went over Xmas 2005, and had a wonderful time. Weather is not as good, but the sites are spectacular. Easyjet now fly there, although it is to Istanbul's 2nd airport on the asian side of the Bosphorous - Sabiha Gokcen.
Hope that this helps.
Hi Luddundenturk,
Rather than risk the weather at all try one of the thermal resorts at afyon 3.5 hours north of Antalya. we did this over new year and were swimming in the out door pool although the air temp was around 3 degrees the pools are bath water temps.
We went to Marmaris on Xmas Eve this year - flew with Thomas Cook, got really good flight prices. Weather was lovely and sunny during the day, shorts and t shirts, but cold at night. Very surprised how warm. Quiet but nice, some shops and restaurants were open.
