A friend has asked me to bring back cigarettes for her, and I seem to be getting conflicting information on various websites. One site just showed that I could bring back 3,200, but I'm sure that lat year I could only bring 200 back from Greece.

Help please!

up to 30 sept 2011 it was 3200 for personal use AS FROM 1ST OCT 2011 HM Revenue and customs have reduced the quantity to 800

the reduced quanti applies across EU holiday countries canaries/baliarics and a few others are still 200

But isn't it still the recommended amount not the 'you can't bring anymore than' amount? I've been told (on our recent trip to Belgium) that as long as they are for your own use it's still more or less the same?

under EU law yes but under uk customs no, i dont know if anyone has been stopped with more yet but i keep looking
