no they dont speak much english, personal effects are Ok, tvs, hifis. satellite sytems all carry a bandroll tax. We dealt with an english company that transported stuff to our door once we cleared izmir.

Any contacts would be greatly appreciated as you mentioned an english company. Who cleared your possessions at the port? Now decided not to bring any electricals through, just the personal things. Still thinking of driving down but researching like mad!!

we used f+n from england and they used a turkish agent this side. Its not all electrical goods that are taxed, just receivers eg TVs etc. Computers are also exempt. call a good carrier and they will explain all the rules.
you have to clear the possessions yourself but your agent will be there to repack and take them to your final destination.
