Take casual with a couple of outfits if you want to do "posh" in Bangkok. Flat sandals if you are planning to hop on and off the water taxis. I would actually think very hard about what shoes to wear at night.Think about the skytrain and the stairs you need to climb, also the pavements are not the best. Make sure that you have something that covers your knees if you are going to the Grand Palace and also somthing with a short sleeve so that shoulders are covered. Very handd, believe it or not, is a brolly both for any rain and also a must for somewhere like wondering around the Palace, as it can be very very hot.
Bangkok is a shopping heaven with loads of centres.
