has anyone got a web adress for club del sol in puerta pollensa
Was looking to book the Club Del Sol for July 2007.
Has anyone been here and stayre Self Catering Plus ?
Was wondering what it was like. Can you get the drinks / snacks from any bar, or is it restricted ?
Is it worth booking self catering plus or just standard self catering ?
Thanks
the complex is modern it opened in 2000 and is very well kept and immaculately clean.
the hotel is for ideal for families and manages to escape the whole 'brits abroad' image. it is situated about a mile and a half outside of pto pollenca centre but is accessable by bus every 15 minutes costing 1 euro pp, be warned however these do not run during the afternoon siesta and finish at about 7.30pm. taxis are about 6 euros but again getting one in the busy periods can be especially difficult.
however dont let this put you off, on site there are regular organised activities for all the family, (not too butlins though) also an all weather football pitch, tennis courts, mini golf just to name a few.
To answer your question regarding self catering plus, although this has been implemented sice i left from what i am aware of i would not boher although that doesnt come from first hand experience.
the two pools at the hotel are well away from each other and this tends to work very well as the main pool (in front of the bar area) tends to be the busier one where all of the activities take place and the one at the rear of the complex a lot more sedate so perfect for relaxing and having some peace and quiet.
one final thing i will suggest is to book a room and not a studio, all of the studios only have pull out beds not proper beds, this is stated in the brochures but a lot of people seem to miss that and over the course of a week this will make a difference.
all in all though the club del sol is a fantastic complex and a great place to holiday, i have tried to be as impartioal as i can, just so you know i dont have any connections with the hotel anymore so it doesnt cloud my view. hope it helps
just got back from two great weeks at club del sol the self catering plus is not to bad as i paid €340 when i got there 4 almost 12 days of my holiday 4 me misses 5yr old n a baby drinks r san miguel and all spirits but not named brand but they do the job very well plus we got all our water from bar coke fanta as well worked out at roughly €30 a day so was worth it as we stayed in hotel most of time cos of baby.. quick note on taxis we never had a problem no matter wat kind of day i will b adding qa full review 2mrw
As for taxis by the way I was forgetting the time of year (september). In the peak of July and August taxis can be a little awkward but you are right in September there are no problems at all
Have found a good deal, but would like to get any views
Thanks looking forward to your replies

thanks biff
the apartments are quite a long way from the centre of Puerto Pollensa, but the whole bay is beautiful and I'm sure that if the accommodation has good reviews, then you will enjoy it.
As I recall they are about 1/2 way between Alcudia old town and Puerto Pollensa. Which means a bus to either of those, unless you enjoy a long walk. The beach opposite is hopeless and used only by windsurfers. Other than that the place looks very nice and has a good reputation.
thanks for your replies.
we,ve booked here for August, never been before but the reviews I've read have been fantastic.
yes it does seem a bit out but there are regular buses and you have the choice of an evening in Pollensa or Alcudia-best of both worlds I think.
We're going there in August too! We've not been before, but are going with my best friend and her family and they went there in August 2006 and all absolutely loved it!! We've decided to book Self Catering Plus as that way we don't need to say no to the teenagers when they want drinks and to the kids when they're after ice-creams.
have you already booked self catering plus or do you know if you can upgrade when you get there.
ta in advance..
We've already booked it. Although often you can book AI once you get to the resort, so this may be the same. We just figured we might as well do it at the same time as booking, as we know we're going to need it with 2 teenagers and a 7 yr old!! I don't even drink alchohol but am a fizzy drink addict and so will probably get my money's worth too.
Who are you travelling with? We're with First Choice.
We're also first choice booked through falcon, however we weren't given the choice at time of booking and the t/a said this was because it was sold out
However I have read a lot of reviews about this place and some people mention ungrading on arrival so fingers crossed cos I read it was 14€ each per day and last year on hols it was costing us 10€ per round for 2 alco and 2 soft drinks
We'll see what happens......either way can't wait!!
How odd that it could be sold out!! You'd think if they've got seats for you on the plane, apartments for you at the resort, that they'd have enough drink to go round!!! LOL! Can't remember quite what we paid to upgrade but it was about £75 per person for 2 weeks I think. I've just checked the First Choice website and this holiday with the Self Catering Plus option is still available, not sold out. Is it worth checking with your travel agent, do you think? When in August are you going?
we are going 11th but I booked online on the falcon website and self catering plus was not available. i wonder does it depend on which airport you are going from?
Must say i thought it strange also that we couldn't get it but the guy on the phone wasn't very helpful
