Have had a mooch around New One and even on the hotel's website (which isn't very good to be honest) they don't mention air cond. First Choice's website says there's electric fans in the bedroom.

When we went last year they were putting in Air Con into some rooms. Presume they did some more over the closed season.

We had a room with air con and while it was useful the condensers took a lot of room on the balcony.

The Annabel is at the top of a steep hill. There is a resturant that was quite busy at the top of the hill - just outside the hotel which done pizzas/ steaks etc. Another resturant mid way along the hill and then in the Cala Galdana itself a variety of places to eat. We stayed half board so couldn't comment on how good they were, but many were busy.

There was also a small supermarket at the top of the hill, good for bottles of soft drink, crisps, bread etc.

Biggest thing to do in CG is the beach, especially if you're kids don't want to do the hotel kids club. Although the hotel team ran alot of events to keep older kids busy - if they like that sort of thing.

Can take the public bus to Mahon and walk around the markets, slightly better range of shops plus Burger King or two. Plus boat rides around the harbour.

My eldest was 10 when we went and simply loved the pool and beach.

Anyone just come back from this hotel? Whats the children's entertainment like on the evening? Is there a cashpoint machine in the resort?

Hi, we came back from the Annabel Confortel yesterday and had a great time (it was our 2nd time at this hotel).

The First Choice Kids Club was FANASTIC! The children did many things like Cooks Accademy, Hula Skirt making, Sweetie Party, Witches Party - they loved it.

The accommodation was basic but cleaned every 2-3 days, with plenty of clean towells. We had air conditioning which was a great. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The entertainments programme on the evening has changed since last year. A lady called Soli did it last year and was fantastic with the kids - this year it was Rashid and after a bit of getting used to he did do a good job! The shows were OK not as good as last year, the highlight of the night was the Mini Disco and the kids loved it.

The only downfall was the pool. Great in the day and plenty of sunbeds but of an evening was not sectioned off from children. On Thursday we witnessed two incidents whereby 2 children fell into the pool and one bruised her leg. This was all down to the First Choice Rep (who was not a Children's Rep) who decided that it would be fun for the children to push her in the DEEP END!. It all got out of hand the kids kept pushing her in and hey ho 2 kids fell in the pool. This put a real dampner on things!

The hill is steep but you do get used to it.

The weather was fantastic - Thursday it was 42 degrees. Too hot for the kids hence that's why they went to Kids Club.

Food was fantastic at Sa Luna and Meson Murciano (the 2nd being our favourite). A meal for 2 adults and 2 children with 2 very large beers and 2 pops 2 puddings and 2 ice creams around 64 euro's.

We went self catering and had a couple of lunch time snacks in hotel and food was very good. You pay around 2.50 euros for a San Miguel, 2.00 for soft drinks, 5.80 for a hamburger and chips.

On the beach sunbeds and umbrellas are very expensive so bought an airbed for 8 euros and used our towells. The sea is very clear and very safe.

There is a Cash Point Machine in Cala Galdana which we used twice. However very disappointed with the exchange rate received from my Nationwide Flex Account only got 0.89! On the exchange board it was 1.13 so I've put a complaint into Nationwide - BEWARE USING NATIONWIDE FLEX ACCOUNT.

Hope this helps.

Amanda.

When you used the ATM and it asked if you wanted the transaction in sterling, did you choose Yes or No? If you chose Yes, then you will have received the exchange rate of the ATM provider which is typically much poorer. If you chose No you should have got the Visa rate which is similar to the Interbank rate.

If you haven't done so already, it would be appreciated if you could copy and past your review into our Hotel Reviews site.
