Hi,
I am looking into going to either Lloret or Callela in January.
I've never been to the C. Brava before so I am unsure if there will be anything open whilst we are there.
Can anyone help?
I personally would never go there at that time of year, because lots of things/places are closed down and they often have very cold spells with snow at times!! It depends if you are going just to chill (pardon the pun!) or whatever else you have in mind. Further south in Spain would be a safer bet if you are looking for warmer weather.
It's just a wee cheapy weekend away we're looking for and flights are dirt cheap at the mo (£25 return!), we do plan to just 'chill', do some walking etc. Been to Barca in January before and didn't mind being cold (warmer than Scotland anyway lol).

both towns will have enough open to keep you amused.
a lot of the shops/restaurants and bars do close, but there are still enough places open.
the markets generally are open, but are subject to the weather the same as in the uk.
also, a lot of the restaurants stay closed during the week but open up over the weekend for the locals.this does annoy me greatly when i'm there so i just boycott the ones that do this as if my money is not good enough for them on a tuesday i'm blowed if they are going to get any of it on a saturday
some of the bars do the same, but i know that the robin hood in fenals-lloret and the picadilly in lloret will be open throughout the winter.

Hey, childersley. for £25 go for it! Thats a great price. Is that with Ryanair from prestwick? Might have alook myself for those prices.
We're to Calella in January and got our return fares at 1p each way with Ryanair without taxes of course
Just back from a trip to Germany and in the mornings a tv station shows live web cams across the alps and beyond. Also showed a live cam from Cambrills and it was really sunny the last 2 days. 9degs and rising at 8.15am!!! Not bad eh?
Calella is alright in January. I have family there (working in Papa's) and we've been there at all times of the year. Depends what you're looking for, it certainly won't be warm but I'd rather a cold breezy day in Calella to the same in Scotland in the middle of January
the weather was terrific for the time of year, clear skies with early afternoon temps warm enough to eat ice cream outdoors wearing just t shirts and jeans. very cold though soon after sunset which is about 5.30pm.
be prepared for girona being colder than here, it was freezing cold and the cars in the car park were covered in frost when we arrived at 9.30am. fortunately it's much warmer on the coast.

Jenny.
My partner and I went to Lloret in November for a week and we were surprised by the weather - it was very pleasant, cool but sun was shining and no rain for the full week we were there - definitely a lot nicer than the wet, cold winter of Glasgow! We even managed to go on one of the boat tours along the coast which was lovely. I've just booked my parents a holiday to Lloret in February for a week - I got their flights with Ryanair from Prestwick for 1p each (excluding taxes) - for the price it's a lot better than staying at home!
