We have stayed in Los Gigantes several times, and also Puerto Santiago.
It looks as if it is right on the edge of Playa de la Arena, near Punta Negra. Is that what you think? We discovered Punta Negra last year, and want to go back and explore some more.
I worry that you are a long way from Los Gigantes itself though, or are you hapy to be "on the edge"?
(only banana plantations the other way?)
At least I don't reckon you're halfway up the mountain like most of the new complexes
Hi, Thanks for your comments, we usually stay at Puerto Colon but always go round to Playa de la Arena because we just like it round there, I don't mind it not being in Los Gigantes, and I do know roughly where the complex is. It would be a rather hilly walk, but it is in walking distance to Los Gigantes. We certainly haven't been to Punta Negra, so, we have another place to visit while we are there. We always hire a car for our stay as hubby plays golf several times. Thanks again for your comments.
its situated behind playa de la arena hotel. its high up, but with lovely views over playa de la arena. from what i could see, it looks lovely.
Thanks very much for that.
but the accompanying map places it near Punta Negra, only I don't believe there is enough space there!
So it will be within walking distance of Los Gigantes etc.
Punta Negra can be accessed down a flight of scruffy concrete steps off Calle Punta Negra street, at the southern end of Playa de la Arena beach. It consists of volcanic rock pools and spectacular rock formations. The rock is like pumice (only dark red), and easy to walk on.......
and it is just somewhere different to visit if you like doing eccentric things.
I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on the net. We wanted to go next summer, but apparantely its not finished yet and as with a lot of newer hotels they have staffing problems. So we have decided until most reviews turn good and the hotel is finished as advertised.
any other info/tips on this hotel would be great as there isnt that much info on it yet!
thanks cocktail
Hi there, we are visiting in may and i've found loads of info on tripadvisor dotcom, this includes good reviews and loads of photos. It actually looks very, very child friendly. There is also loads of info on the hotels own website. Go into springhoteles dotcom and click on this hotel. I hope this helps.
ive had a look on there and your right it does look really child friendly in fact it looks amazing and i cant wait to go now!
thanks again for the info
We've decided to go further up the coast this year (to explore and because the AI prices in Las Americas and Los Cristianos are ridiculous) and wondered if anyone had information on this resort. Been on the website and it looks brilliant, stayed at the Bitacora a few years ago, and although we didn't enjoy it as much as usual (we went in the middle of August) the hotel was spotless, food and service was excellent, so happy that the Costa Los Gigantes is a Spring resort. Just wanted to know if anyone has been recently, as the hotel has only been open for about a year. Pictures of the resort look great, but first-hand experience is much better.
Anyone know how much it would be for a taxi - as usual we have a transfer included but we'd prefer to get straight off from the airport as long as the fare doesn't break the bank?
Any information would be great.
Thanks
Mark and Pam
Parents stayed there just before xmas, they said accomadation and facilities were excellent, all incllusive drinks excellent (some were self service).Only concern they had was the food was sometimes not very hot, though meat and fish etc. was often cooked in front of you, when you added vegetables and sides etc.these were not as hot, though a microwave is there to use. However they did say they would go again as they feel these things will improve as the hotel gets busier and there is more turnover of food. Also said there are dozens of sunbeds available.
If anyone has stayed at this complex, we would also welcome your feedback across on our
Booked this hotel for my family and I. We are going in October with another family. Cannot wait to go usually go to Costa Adeje area, so this will be a big change for us. Does anyone know how long the transfer to the hotel from the airport is ?? Only another 217 days or so to go not that I am counting or anything
I'd read somewhere abuot the temperature of the food, but agree that this may improve as the hotel gets busier. Lots of sunbeds sounds good to me - no getting up at 6am with all the other idiots!!
As per Sooz72's question, whats the transfer time from airport to LG?
Mark
Transfer time by taxi about 30 to 45 minutes (depends on driver)
i emailed the hotel to get info on the kids club and they were very quick to reply (ages 4yrs - 12yrs for kids club)
so if anyone has any questions that dont get answered on here you can email them too.
like most people are saying i think this hotel is going to improve the fuller it gets with the food and such, so we are now just really looking forward to going and since both our children will be able to join in the club my husband and i can get time to relax and use some of the fab looking spa facilities
i cant wait

We couldn't have made a better choice!....I must say what a fantastic hotel- we found all the staff very helpful and friendly, The grounds very well maintained, the food choice and quality very good. Our two young sons aged 4 and 2 were in their element! Its very child friendly, Theres a very good secure play area/play centre with ball pool slide etc, 3 very clean pools, 2 baby pools, toboggan water slide, tennis courts and arcade games room with small bowling alley, as well as the kids clubs and evening entertainment. So enough to do if you want it (but no pressure to do so), alternatively you could have a quiet relaxing holiday visiting the thalasso spa and sitting by the pool..... we miss it already!! The hotel has a gate at the bottom end of the complex (open 10.00-22.00 during this time manned constantly by a security guard ensuring non hotel residents don't come in) leading to the resort and beach (5 mins walk) at Playa de la arena. Sea was too rough for swimming or even paddling whilst we were there, huge waves!
The weather for the week was usually 28 degrees C at hottest and even reached in the 30s on a couple of days, the south west of tenerife is apparently well known for its hot temperatures, we had not a spot of rain all week too!
The transfer from the airport by coach took approx 40-50 minutes including other passengers stops on the way.
Sorry for the ramble!... we will definately be back to this one.... we just hope it will maintain such a good standard.
Thanks for the feedback littlebirdie. Perhaps you would like to be first to review this complex for the benefit of other holidaymakers, if so
A question for littlebirdie. Do you know if the hotel charge for the all inclusive on day of departure after 12 noon? I read somewhere last year that the hotel were planning this and it would be quite expensive, although I've heard no more since. My concerns are that we'll be charged a fortune for a few hours as we will probably depart the hotel around 5pm.
