CRETE: BALI TO MYRTOS

anyone help please?
going to Bali June 2009 and want to re-visit Myrtos. Will probably stay overnight but the question is can anyone tell me the travelling time between the two resorts? I calculate the distance at about 160km but don't know the nature of the road, especially between Bali and Heraklion. Just trying to guage how early to set off to maximise the time because our travelling companions like to dot the I's and cross the T's.

Hi! Bali to Heraklion is along the main fast coastal road - it will probably be the quickest part of your journey. You could do it in under an hour by car.

Only ever been to Myrtos (sigh!) by bus which follows the route - Heraklion,Malia, Ag Nik, then cross country at Kalo Chorio to Ierapetra - by bus this takes about 90 minutes - 2 hours. Ierapetra to Myrtos is about 30 minutes.

Don't know about the route due south of Heraklion throough Viannos - if you do it let me know what it's like.
