Does anyone know if 'Olympic' use the Crowne Plaza? I've read on another forum that they are the cheapest people to book the Cairo (by air) trip with and they are not bothered if you are on one of their holidays they will still book you. Well it's all money I suppose!
Only problem is I don't know how to track them down easily if they are not in the hotel.
Not sure if they use the Hotel, but e-mail the Hotel they will tell you.
have posted some photos from our last visit to Crowne Plaza on the photo gallery, there is a link above 'underwater photos'. I have also tried emailing this hotel but to date have received no reply address as follows: info@crowneplazasharm.com. Did i mention before that i have joined the priority club that is part of the crowne plaza chain, might get upgraded rooms etc...
My photos are in the upload album!!!! dont know how to move them to the link on this forum!!!
Hi I am new to this but I have been reading the info people have posted and it seems like great idea. Im off the Sharm in just over a week (hooray ) staying at the crowne plaza, which sounds fab. I notice that many of the posts recommend taking a taxi to Naama bay...is this a distance thing or for ease? Could you walk or is that completely impractical? What do people think of the market in old Sharm? is that worth a visit & when would be the best time to go? Any help with this would be great...
I'm sure you will have a great time the crowne plaza is a smashing Hotel.
It is a bit too far to walk to Naama bay but it will only cost you £6 return the guys will come and pick you up.
The Market in Old Sharm is very nice it is well worth a visit not as glitzy as Naama Bay( More traditional) the Neon lights get to you after a while!! A good place to eat is 'The Sinai Star' a very local fish eating place, £30 for 4, lobster crab prawn fish, etc etc too much to eat.
If you want any more info give me a shout.
Stuart
ps couldn't you sleep last night :-)
Hi Deeping vet... for the info...I was in the middle of a night shift when I worte my last message, desparately wishing I could sleep !!Here is another question that has been asked before but it was a good while ago now...building work...an one been there since xmas and heard a lot of noise or is it still the distant rumble people have described in the past? Any way I could organise to get a room away from the building?
I was there last August, they did work most days but you never really noticed it. The only time I really noticed it was on a Dive and we went close to where they were working, apart from that didn't bother us at all.
Anyone know if the pools have had a chance to warm up by April or is it a case of having to go in the sea for warm water?
DeepingVet - The Sinai Star sounds great, when you say its local do you mean to the Crowne Plaza ie walkable or do you mean local Egyptian type restaurant but in Namma bay? Sorry my brains not working.

Welcome to HT. It would be really brill if when you come back you could post on here to give an update on the buliding work, hotel in general or put a review in the hotel review section which would be even better. Hope you have a good holiday.
The sinai star is in old sharm, you will need to get a taxi. The restaurants are all ok most are run by locals, so they will be different to your local!
As for the pools I don't know, might be warm enough the weather seems quite warm at the mo high 20s.

Elaine might know about the pools as she was there last April. I'm glad about the restaurants as I like to experience a bit of local food/culture different settings if poss. It all ads to the experience.
dont know much about the pools at crowne plaza i'm a sea person, i did venture in the bottom pool near the beach and it was not that cold, once you got used to the water temp but the sea was warmer!!!! the sinia star is on our list of restaurants to try this year also, no alcohol licence so take your own wine/beer, another restuarant we want to try is the one at el fanar beach, we are going to take a taxi there and spend the day snorkelling and sunbathing - a colleague of mine recommended it as a good day out and all for the cost of a taxi!!!!!
I am making notes of restaurants and beaches so perhaps will be able to try El Fanar myself.
I think it might be alot cheaper to get your snorkel and mask in Sharm.
Hi all, just a quick message i emailed the hotel enquiring if they offer complimentary upgrades for returning guests, i also told them i was a member of their priority club and quoted my membership number - just received a reply and we have been upgraded to a sea view room, really happy with that i can sit on the balcony now and watch the sunrise before breakfast elaine
Well done. I'd better log on to the main site and try and become a priority club member.
I am new to holiday truths and I am due to holiday in sharm at the end of march in the Crowne Plaza and from what I gather it seems to be a great hotel!
Like many others I have just recieved notification that building work will be going on, and If anyone that has vistited lately could give me an update it would be much appreciated.
I am also interested in doing some diving and think it would be a shame not to give it a go...so if anyone can help me out with any info with whom they booked their dives with that would be excellent.
Any more general hints and tips please feel free to advise!!!
Many Thanks
Tim01
excellent choice of hotel the dive centre there is divers international and i posted before if you book online before you go they give you a 15% discount and you dont pay local tax of 10% a good saving website is as follows http://www.diversintl.com. my hubby dived with them last year we stayed at the same hotel they also do shore dives because hotel is situated on the garden reefs all in all a professional setup would recommend it.....
What gets me is that the building works have been going on for 18 months at CP, so the Tour Op must have known both when I booked and when I paid the balance, but of course only inform me when there is a few weeks till date of travel. Suprised they didn't just wait and send the 'news' with the tickets! By now if the works bothered anyone who didn't know, it would probably be to late for them to change their plans. It seems so unethical. Rant over.
hi doepsmc, same as you we received a letter at the weekend warning of building work!!!!! at the CP. must be honest it did not bother us last year and we were at the lower pool near the sea every day... just over a month before we go must start my diet!!!!!
