Cruise comparison site launches
A new comparison site launches today dedicated to the cruise industry.
It has been founded by Tom Fotheringham, former DFDS Seaways advertising manager and then online marketing manager.
A spokeswoman for the company said there is also a strong backing from a prominent industry name but added: "We are not able to specify at this point who it is."
She said the website is funded by personal money as well as from investment.
"The site has had proof of concept funding from Northstar, a venture capital company dedicated to building successful high growth businesses across the North East of England," said the spokeswoman.
The company receives commission from each sale made via the site.
http://www.CruiseCompare.co.uk claims to be an independent website offering an unbiased and accurate service to both experienced and first time cruisers.
It is partnered with P&O Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), and Carnival and compares over 10,000 cruises.
Three live prices and booking options are displayed along the side of each cruise.
Managing director Danielle Fear, who has a PR and marketing background, said: "The site is completely impartial, and offers cruises from all major cruise providers, allowing users to find the best possible deal for them.
"CruiseCompare.co.uk is a unique service, and the concept is based on popular and successful business models used by insurance providers, mobile phone providers and financial services."

Checked the RCI 18n trips did not find the cheapest.
Yep, I searched for a cruise I have booked and it returned zero results.
I feel they will to make some improvements to stop users coming up with zero results when cruises are actually available
Also because they are a UK cruise comparison site, I find it a bit odd that they haven't included Cruise & Maritime,Saga or Thomson which are used by lots of British cruisers
Yes I must admit I could not understand why Thomson had not been included I know they offer a different brand of cruising to the big boys but nevertheless they play an important role in the cruising industry.
Cruiselines pay to get the cruises on the list
TAs pay to be included in the search.
You need access to the data and the public interfaces to the TA's and cruiselines are just not good enough to get this information.
The propblem is that the real deals involve more than just the cruise price OBC free parking free flights etc.
My guess(speculative ATM but looking for evidence) is that Expedia is behind this somewhere
They own most of the travel sites you see on the web anyway, the popular ones most cruise people have heard of are tripadvisor and cruisecritic both part of expedia.
