That's not a bad price, did you buy on-line?
I'm guessing here but as the bank rate is currently hovering around the 2.8-2.85 rate you won't get it much cheaper in turkey - maybe 2.8 max.
I'll be changing £800 in the next few weeks and will be taking around £500 in Sterling.

Yep, I guess you're right, either way I'll get some Lira for the first couple of days (maybe £100 worth) unless it looks like it's nose-diving then will get the £800 worth as originally intended and take £500 Sterling.

oh i always do - but do like to get £100 worth to cover for incidentals and first night when there - but always like to get the most for my money

Ah ok, I'm gonna do the same, get £100 worth then change rest in Icmeler - apparently people are saying they are getting 2.8 over their at the moment.
11 sleeps and we will be there - getting closer lol. Just one more week at work, break up next friday....

Christine, it is 2.80 out here at the moment and so you would be looking at getting around 2.75.

I just bought 250 Lira for use on the first day or two, cost me just over £90. I think the rate was around 2.65ish from Thomas Cook. I will be taking around £1500 to change when we get there (1 week tomorrow)
Apparently Alizda, you can get better rates in Icmeler - especially in the old village area in supermarkets, bars & shops. 2.8 was the latest I heard.
even better! makes the efes that little bit cheaper lol x
The rate is slowly climbing again, should definitely get a minimum of 2.8 in Icmeler, would be nice if it climbed a little more for next week
Hi, We off to Icmeler in September for 2 weeks. Didnt really want to carry huge amounts of cash whilst travelling so was thinking of just getting about £150 worth then drawing out of the ATM. I bank with Santander, does anyone know what kind of charge there is at ATM. Also is it best to draw English money out of the machine and get it changed into Lira, or is best just to get Lira out the ATM ? What kind of difference would there be between the 2 if anyone can advise.
personally speaking, and this is only my opinion, i wouldn't rely on getting my money out of ATM's - what if the ATM swallows your card or you lose it - you're not gonna have any access to any money then
