got back yesterday from the most amazing holiday ever!
Thought the Dar Khayam was good the first time Well !!! it has improved no end
the food was much better
staff welcomed us like family, how on earth they can rememeber people from months before I don't know but we got loads of hugs and nice to see you back
entertainment staff AMaZING even got me to jon in some of the silly games, which aren't my thing , but great fun!
Can't wait to go back 53 sleeps and counting. After over 20 years of trying somewhere new 3 times a year found a great place
Anyone going here has to remember how much they paid and appreciate the value for money It's out of this world

Sounds like fun was had by all ! Was the weather food ? Is it still the same animation team?
Had a look on the review centre and there are loads of photos. Did you get a bungalow near the beach or was it in the main complex? Kids really looking forward to it.. Were now counting the sleeps and checking in on the various websites nearly every night!
Are they still running the camel trips etc? Is it still the kayaks and pedaloes on the beach? Heard the food has improved too. Is there plenty to choose from?

just back from dar kayham yesterday and just thought i let everyone know what a wonderful holiday we had staff were very friendly couldnt do more for you and they didnt expect tipping all the time we tipped waiter and maid on last day wish they appreciated and tipped the porter on arrival. food was fab could not get enough of the cakes superb. men do not need to wear long trousers in restraunt but you must wear a tshirt when you go in no swim wear.pool great very warm. animation team very good you could be busy all day with these guys they work from about 9am till about 12pm at night with little breaks, u have choice of handball,waterpolo,archery,water arobics,belly dancing and much more only if you want to join in. latifif the camel man is so funny you hear him before you see him and was well worth the money to do camel trip with him also quad bikes great value for money sam the kids entertainer was also very good kids loved him

only 3 sleeps ! Can't wait

Aaargh I'm so jealous, wish I was going back there so much. Have a fab time magsg, it will be so hot there when you go. Say hello to all the animation team from Vikki, Craig and Conor spesh Midou, Kelly, Didi, Nagui and Sam. Sheryl's going back there next Weds so say hi to her from Conor from us!

We were there last august and it was scorching
but still got a bit of a tan left so shouldn't be so bad this time around. Sorry no space left in our cases as they are full of tea bags, cheese, shorts and tops for the staff, we left with quite a list in June. But they are all so fantastic it's nice to be able to do something back. Will pass on your " Hi's" to all the team and will have a pastis for you by the pool.xx

22 sleeps cant wait, is omar now all inc as well if you wander to the slide, is it just drinks or food, hopefully got the rooms that we would like this year, so escited, my soul is here already................need to get out more lol

Hi Nadine, is that your review of the Dar Khayam that's just been posted? If so I'm sooooo glad to hear that the hotel is just as fabulous as ever cos I've read so many bad reviews lately that I was wondering if it really was going downhill. But it seems like, as always, that it's people who just like to moan about everything and there's also some very horrible people around. I'd heard somewhere else about a load of dodgy English people that were there recently.
Kelly and Sheryl are lovely arent they - my son followed them everywhere! Has Midou left now? We'll be back there as soon as we can afford!

Hi Vikki, yes it is my review. I think each year we have gone back the hotel has improved, definate changes for the better this year. Last year we had a couple of tummy upsets (more to do with to much sun I think) so this year 6 boxes of imodium, which came back with us unopened There were a few rude people of other nationalities, but the English were by far the worst, not everyone by the way, but really it was embarassing to be from England. Made me cringe. If you liked the hotel before, you will find it a little better. Midou has left now, but comes back occassionally to do the odd show. We are going to go back next year, we left that decision to the children.

ps Camel ride was not as good, if you have done it before and Latif is leaving to open his own shop, next to the jewelry shop on the little strip.

Well my boyfriend's a very fussy eater and he's always been fine and both times we've been neither me, my boyfriend or my son have had any tummy troubles. We can never understand how people complain about the food??! How awful about the horrible English people, I'd spoken to somebody on trip advisor who had emailed me about the hotel for my opinion and when she returned she was saying just the same thing as you so sounds like you were there at the same time. She mentioned about all the cats being killed though which has really saddened me. Yeah Midou said he was leaving in September to become a teacher, glad he still comes back. Sheryls family were there when we were there too. I should know better than to listen to most of the bad reviews, I dont know what some people expect, we love the place so much and if I could afford we'd go there every chance we got!
We went on the camel trips both times - the last time being in May and it was pretty much the same as the first time. They did the dancing but didnt ask us to join in which was fine by me! They must have changed it since then.
Wow it will be quiet around the hotel without Latif!! - will have to visit his shop next time we go there - is that when you turn left out of the hotel?

We will go back next October, the rooms we had this year were lovely, thanks to Rafik.

I'm going to the above hotel in a couple of weeks (5/8/09) and have a few questions for those of you who have been recently:
Where are the apartments located?
Is the Omar Khayam linked directly to the DK?
Is the sea safe for bathing (currents/dept etc)?
What internet facilities are available?
Has anyone been on the desert safari excursion, if so is it recommended?
What is your BEST overall tip?

Been to Tunisia 3 times previously but never to Hammamet, not had much chance to get excited as yet but now the kids have broke up from school and the flight tickets arrived yesterday.... I am now!
