Hi Pat62

A few years back while in Tossa we took a trip to Gerona using local bus. I was not that taken with the place, making our way from bus station to old town was rather dismal but I must add that having seen very good travel reports I must have chosen the wrong route and places to see.

A good number of years ago I think it was Thomsons that ran a Country Scenes tour that went to Gerona (for quick sightseeing), Besalu (medieval village V.G.) and Banyolas (for lake and boat trip) the trip as usual was not cheap but it very good, apart from the stop at a bodega on the way back for the usual free alcoholic drinks inside a boiling hot tin shed we bought a cold coke and sat outside in the sun waiting for the rest of the party.

Another unfortunate thing was that the tour we booked was a Wednesdayand I had forgotten that the 11 Sept. was a hoiliday and during our stops in Gerona and Besalu many places were closed.

If a similar tour was still available I would recomend it.

My wife and I were staying in Fanals a few years ago, and rather than accept the TO's excursions we did our own through a Lloret agency (by the bus station). We had a brilliant trip to Gerona, Dali Museum and Lake Banyolas with a courier who spoke six languages and gave us many helpful tips to get the best out of the trip.
Have a look around, there are many wonderful things to see besides Barca.
