Hello all....
Only 222 days to go.....
Anyway, back to the subject in hand....we would like to do a 3-4 day trip to Delhi/Agra,to see the usual sights.
1)Would it be best to book hotel in Delhi or Agra?
2)Do a complete package when we arrive in Goa?
3)Book the internal flights here??
4)Any of the above??
5) Help!!!
Cheers in advance.....
I would personally book internal flights before you get to Goa....
Try the site...makemytrip.com...(dogfish told me about the site...very helpful and easy to use)..
We have just turned up at Mumbai airport in the past on the day we wanted to travel and gone round the operators to find the flight which suited our needs the best....but its a bit of a gamble... Good luck.....
are you on a package to Goa?
No,not on a package deal,all done seperate,and we're staying in Benalium from March 20th -April 16th...
so you have already booked flights? When we did Agra/Delhi/Jaipur we flew into Delhi and out of Mumbai.
Think i'll have a look for some hotels in Delhi, and book the internal flights.
More than likely do the train from Delhi-Agra etc etc.
you should have an overnight in Agra. The best time to visit the Taj is either sunrise or sunset.
We're flying into Delhi and out of Mumbai with 3 weeks in Goa in between.
There is the Shatabdi (superfast) service from New Delhi to Agra - departs 06:15 and takes 2 hours.
Returns from Agra at 20:30 back into Delhi at 22:30. Cost is approx Rs400 each way in AC Chair Car or Rs700 each way in 1st AC (private cabin for up to 4 people)
I have also managed to book these in the UK in advance - they sell out quickly and will more than likely be waitlisted by the time you arrive in India.
Another tip re: fllights - book them before you go - http://www.makemytrip.com is good so is http://www.yatra.com or even go to the Expedia INDIA website for flights - for some reason the UK version does not show all the possible flights and prices avaialble. http://www.expdia.co.in
Shout if you need any more info.
Cheers

We had a trip 2 years ago with them. Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.
The trip was 6 days and everything in.
We were met at Delhi airport then a driver and 4 wheel drive for the rest of the week took us everywhere.
Great hotels and service.
Highly recommended, also quite cheap compared to all the others we saw.
There's a tour report on here.
I think Fiona did the same trip.

We are going to Goa on the 1st March and after a few days rest, we are going to Delhi/Agra from Goa for a short trip. I have organised everything from UK, having personally chosen the flight(s)/times, 5 star hotel accommodation, type of car for transportation and the monuments to see. I must admit it took me a while but the 'Web' is such a wonderful thing that I could find information on most things. In the whole process I saved us £1000 per couple which we would have paid to a 'holiday firm in UK' for similar trip but in perhaps 3 star accommodation. Overall it is a DIY trip. I shall give a feed back upon our return. It might just be a fab trip or it may all go pear shaped. My glass is always half full
Hopefully your trip will be fantastic and everything will go to plan after all the effort you have put into organising it!
We did a similar trip a couple of years ago and had a brilliant time.
I too always keep my glass half full!!!! :cheers, but then keep drinking the other half!
