Stephen,
This is the only time of year that I have not visited the town so I would be interested to hear how it compares to other times. For instance, even in summer, on a sunday the town is deserted as everyone is in church, with family or at the beach, so I think the town could be similarly quiet?

Have you booked anything for Christmas Eve or New Year or are your children too young? I am curious as I am considering a visit with my family next Christmas.

Enjoy your break.

Hi Laurie, at this moment we have not booked anything although we are hoping that when we get there that we can book something for new year. Our kids are 7 and 12 so they are old enough to come out with us as they normally do when we are in Spain anyway. I will keep you updated as to how thing are when i get there, not to sure what to expect at that time of year.

Hi all,
I can tell you that at the moment we are having torrential rain and have had since yesterday. According to the local weather forecast we will have this at least until weekend. Also the temperatures are only around 3 degrees celsius so make sure you bring warm clothing; it gets really cold at night as well as during the day.
It's a shame that you will not be here for Epiphany (5th January) as this is when we have the Festival of The Three Kings. There is a parade down Marques de Campo and traditionally, the Spanish children receive their gifts.
Best Wishes for the holiday,
Laguna

Hi Laguna, can you tell me do the restaurants stay open at new year and is there anything special on in denia for the new year.
Cheers, Stephen.

Hi Stephen,
I'm not able to be specific about which restaurants are open at New Year however, if you have any favourites and you contact them I'm sure they will let you know. Alternatively, you could have a look at the tourist information website where a lot of the local restaurants are listed (with contact details) and again, if you contact them they will tell you their opening times over the holiday.
Hope this helps.

Hi Laguna, thought if it was going to be to quite we would head down to Benidorm for the bells but would have preferred to stay in Denia, will have a look around when we get there and see whats on.
Thanks for the help , Stephen.

Good luck Stephen with your holiday plans. I am sure people will be out in Denia for the bells and eating grapes. Why not try Luganos the pizzeria on the front - they are always busy and very family orientated, they might well be open over the holiday.

Thanks Laurie , i might just try luganos for the bells we have eaten in laganos on just about every trip and enjoyed it so i think i will take a walk along tomorrow and see whats going on. I will post and let you know how thing are.
In the mean time i hope you and your family have a great Christmas and new year.
Best wishes, Stephen.

Hi Laurie and hello from a cold and wet Denia. Since we got here yesterday it has been chucking it down so we have been pretty much stuck indoors, we are going to try to get out tonight along to El Porto and see if we can find out what is going on over the holidays. I will keep you updated on how thing go.

Well it's very grey, damp and dismal here in the UK, despite the thousands of garden lights everywhere! Just checked the BBC site and Christmas Day is going to be 14 and sunny.

Hi Laurie, well back at work now and back in the rain. We had a great two weeks in Denia, after the last time i posted the weather was great. From Christmas day onwards the weather was great, as for denia at Christmas time we missed having the family about on Christmas day and would probably not go again on Christmas day but new year is a must ,we had a great time wandered the streets with the kids till a bout 4 in the morning, we brought in the bells in El Port and had a great time then we wandered the streets for a while not realizing that there was a concert and DJ on at the town hall by the time we got there it was just about to Finnish and that was about 2 in the morning so at least we know it will be there for next year. After that we went to St jose squere and sat there till about 4 in the morning and still woke without a hangover so that was a bonus. All in all we had a great time and would recommend it.

Brilliant, sounds great. It's good to get first hand knowledge from people in a similar situation to ourselves.

By the way, where is St Jose Square? Also how warm was it? Not sure how accurate the BBC site is but I am going out on Friday.

Hi Laurie, to your first question st jose square is in the back streets just behind and in between El Port restaurant and Rasset Hotel I'm sure you will know it when you see it as far as the weather is concerned i always find the BBC 5 day forecast to be inaccurate for a more accurate forecast i use the denia web cam and just click on weather it gives you a six day forecast that becomes more accurate as it gets closer to the actual date.
also it was between 68 and 72 most days cool in the morning till about 11 o'clock and starts to get cool again about 5 o'clock. Hope this helps.

I have looked at the webcam before but never used the weather facility. I am pleased I just did, as it is a very good forecast for the weekend: 23 and 24 degrees max. What a bonus. I never go for the weather in January, more for a change of scenery. But that has made my day. Many thanks.

No problem Laurie. hope you have a great time and the forecast is accurate.

Back from Denia. Friday and Saturday were very warm and sunny but I think the web cam is/was slightly optimistic. Useful to compare between that and the BBC though, at least you get some idea.
