Hi
I've seen this overnight tour to Devbagh Island on the Daytripper website and wonder if anyone can tell me if it's any good.
It looks very idyllic.
Thanks
Polly
Got picked up from hotel in 8 seater mini-bus and not cramped in,long drive to location and then transfer by motor boat to the island.
Accomodation consisted of either huts on stilts or bungalows. We got the bungalow, our friends got the hut on stilts. Both accomodations were fine, and all set back in the woods about 50 meters from the beach, (shower prob in one bungalow but sorted straight away).
Communal main hut for food and drink (only Kingfisher, but may have changed now). Started the evening with a small bbq sat on the sand (ok) and then later, evening meal in the hut - good choice of around 5 meals buffet style. No entertainment - just a chill out, relax and talk with other guests.
All the time is at your own leisure - take a walk up the coast as far as you can walk and see the local villagers casting there nets (you must look where you are putting your feet !! the beach is a human toilet that end !!).
So... the best thing you will notice is the noise (there is non) just peace and quiet,no car horns,taxi-taxi,sellers or shops - one place I would go back to - the hammocks outside the huts are bliss for seeing the sun rise.
Prettypollycat we went to devbagh island and stayed in tents. We also did a dolphin trip about 1/2 hour but it was lovely like spike said its the peace and quite you don't get it in candolim, baga, we organized it ourselves but looking back i think your better off doing through daytripper. We would definitely go again.
I think it's sort of firmed it up in my mind - the only 'fly in the ointment' is that the Daytripper website says it's a Thurs/Fri tour and we really want to go to Mumbai too - and that is Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon.
We do have 3 weeks so it's not out of the question to do both.
Thanks again.
Polly
We've been looking at this trip and really fancy it. They do a houseboat trip combined with the island trip and we like the look of that too. We loved mooching around the backwaters in Kerela so it would be interesting to see if this was similar.
wondering whether anybody has been to this island, spotted it on Daytrippers website and it looks really nice, was thinking of going there, any advice welcomed. Thanks
merged with another thread with info. Also, I've taken back the main daytripper thread and there is info on it too
We've been thinking of doing this trip too, the picture on Day Trippers makes the sea look really blue and clear, I'd love to be able to snorkle - is it? or is it like the same as the beaches in Goa (not that they are not lovely too!!)?
