Hi, looking to send my parents away for a week next August to either Devon or Dorset. Both me and my sister are getting married next year within 5 wks of each other so I wanted to treat them to a holiday for themselves. My mum doesnt have a passport and isnt interested in going abroad.
We usually go to a holiday camp called Lyme Bay Holiday Village which is in Seaton, Devon. Everyone loves it there and we spent the recent bank holiday weekend there, its just the company who own it have turned it into an adults only park, which has left it lacking a bit of atmosphere and my parents couldnt stand more than a long weekend there now.
Hoping to find somewhere just as special as Lyme Bay, somewhere for familes as they love being around children, somewhere thats not hilly, has a pleasent town, which doesnt need to be too big. My mum loves waking up in the moring, getting a paper and having a stroll along the beach. Also needs daily entertainment, like archery and more importantly evening entertainment. That why I am thinking more on lines of another holiday camp. They wouldnt mind chalet's or caravans.
Keep trying new sites with the Sun holidays but none upto scratch. Been to Camber Sands, Pendine Sands, Holywell Bay, Seashore & Combe Haven. Also stayed at Devon Cliffs and Littlesea in the past and my parents hated them as they were far too big and not close to anything. My parents dont like using their car on holidays unless they are exploring the area.
Perhaps Lyme Bay has too high standard too beat, afterall its like a second home to my family and I. Im just hoping someone can recommend somewhere family friendly, in nice flat area, beach on doorstep, and a holiday park that isnt too big.
Any help would be wonderful.
I think I would recommend a Center Parcs, a midweek in mid winter in a quality to person apartment. Lonleat is my fave but that is more hilly. Everything they could possibly want in terms of activity, apart from the beach, obviously! Virtually car free. Children will be there even in school time. Charges for activities other than the pool, but for what you would save on a week in August by going mid winter you could help with that.
Lovely places to eat at night, and sports and the spa contiunes if they want to do those.
A quality holiday that I am sure won't disappoint.
they maybe interested in Minehead.

There is quite a lot to do besides Butlins facilities. We have been on the West Somerset railway and open top bus tour of Exmoor. Both are within walking distance of Butlins. The town is nice with some nice pubs, the beach is lovely too.
I would say that the caravan is nicer/cleaner than the chalets.
