Hi
Have been to Icmeler for the last six years, think we would like to try a different part of Turkey.
The thing is we would need a place which is flat and easy to push a wheelchair, as our son is confined to a chair.
He seemed a bit bored this time in Icmeler as although every-one is so lovely to him there is only so much we can do.
regarding access to trips etc.
Just thought a different area might be a change for him.
Any advice on different suitable places would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hmm this is a difficult one. I have often thought that most Turkish resorts are not particularly wheelchair friendly. Calis is a very flat place. I haven't stayed there but have visited friends for days out. It has a very long flat promenade with cafes and bars along the length of it. From there you can visit Fethiye and Olu Deniz.
Thanks for that
I have seen dolmus that are suitable for wheelchair users too so you could get into Bodrum too.
Will have to do a lot of searching on the net, but am sure will see something suitable
appreciate your reply
We are going back to Calis Beach for the third year running, this resort is ideal
for you with a wheelchair. No hills, lovely flat main street & prommenade.
The hotel we use has ramps in & have ground floor accomadation for anyone
who has a wheelchair or bad on their legs.
Looking at your name, anything to do with living in Doncaster is it. ?
Any questions just ask, thats what we are here for.

I have found that Calis Beach suits us better, no hassle at all.
When you walk past a restaurant, the head waiter asks if you would
like to look at the menu.
You say " No thank You " He answers "may-be another night"
We found other resorts too much hassle.
But again everybody to their own,the forum is to tell it has it is.
Would most definatley agree with Calis beach although olu deniz would be ok too as it's compact and fairly flat.
My recommendation would be Altinkum, there is only one hill here and that is not so bad, you get use to it. The hotel I recommend is the Panormos, this hotel has lifts to the rooms and the staff are very accommodating.
will be doing a lot of research !
we love turkey but a change of resort will maybe be a good thing something different, even though Icmeler is lovely.
Thanks
Tried to pm you again,pc crashed.
Try Thomson website,go to late deals leaving in next 6 weeks.
Doncaster to Dalaman, hotels come up,Our hotel that we use is
coming up b/b for a decent price.
The hotel's name is the Oykun Hotel,Calis Beach.
You can e-mail the owner Oykun or receiptionist Goldie & they
will see to ground floor rooms.
Any thing just ask, e-mail address etc.
Been having the same trouble with my PC.
Thank you so much for all the info, will have a look.
Take it there are plenty of restaurants etc there?
He likes to get pushed about in his chair and sometimes we lift him on boats etc for a trip, he is getting bigger so getting more
difficult for us to manage lifting him, he is now 21, so you can imagine !
But he loves his hols and loves Turkey so we will keep going!
Many Thanks
The prommenade is lined with restaurants, also the main street, all
lovely & flat.
The Oykun hotel is nice & quiet, there is a main road running about 20 mts
away from 1 of the pools, the other pool has the restaurant next to it,
normally on a evening they set tables up around pool.
Lovely a la carte not expensive if you want to stay in hotel at night,
You can book evening meal day to day,has you want.
very good breakfast,with nescafe coffee.
All ramps for wheel chair access.
You can catch a dolmus ( some have wheel-chair access ) or the water
taxi to Fethiye about half hour on boat.
especially the Dolmas with the wheelchair access.
Have emailed them will see what comes back
Thanks
There is one on the north Aegean part of Turkey, name is Dikili, located about 100km. on the north of Izmir. Sea, beaches and hot springs are the spots. Very quiet resort. Also the Greek island of Lesvos is very close adn there are tours. You may both have a holiday in 2 countries I found this page containing detailed info
Thank you very much for that information.
