It's just over 32 miles to Rhodes on a fairly good road. The surface is polished and you by-pass most of the main towns/villages. Once you get in to Rhodes - GOOD LUCK!!!!. Follow a bus. It's hellish.

I don't think Rhodes Town is that bad but then i did live there for a while so i guess i know my way around the one way system pretty well.

If you've not been before (and it's viable) the best day to make your first visit to Rhodes Town is Sunday when there's much less traffic and parking is free. You'll find all the shops, etc in the Old Town are open but if you want to visit the designer shops of the New Town or any museums you'll have to go Mon-Sat.

If you drive from Pefkos to Rhodes Town it will take you about 45 minutes to get there. If you take the main road from Pefkos you will get to Faliraki, once in Faliraki turn right at the cashpoint and follow the signs for Kallithea, this brings you into Rhodes town on the scenic route and is quieter. If you go in on a Wed or Sat there is a fantastic fruit & veg market just past the cemetary on this road. Turn right just past the market and follow the road all the way along the sea front until you get to a road where there is a BP garage and a big nightclub/theatre. If you park on that road it is free and the old town is a 10 minute walk away. The beauty of it is, it is really easy to follow signs to Lindos from there and you can get out of Rhodes easily.
Don't allow yourself to get hassled by the drivers, they are a bit mad but not really aggressive in a nasty way. You can get a bus trip to Rhodes town from Rhodes Direct on Pefkos main street, it cost €14 per person in the day and €17 at night. It might be as well to do that first just to get your bearings.
