Can I ask where did you get that information.

Such statements should just be ignored, unless the poster has 51% of the voting rights to EU membership.

so what impact will the french "non" vote have? as far as I can see the bully in the playground (France) and his pet dog (Germany) are sulking cos the rest of the gang want other friends. Just how this will impact on Bulgaria, Turkey etc remains to be seen.
Whats French for it's my ball and I'm going home!!!!

Chelsea Boy, I do understand where you are coming from about fears of the French and Germans 'ganging' up, but I don't think you can blame the French for voting No. I have tried to understand the constitution ... with absolutely no joy at all as it is all written in Bureaucratise. I think that many intelligent French had the same problem.

It's likely that Holland will also vote No and ultimately, if and when the UK votes, there will also be another majority No vote.

So please don't fall into the easy trap of blaming the French ... that's far too unsubtle!!

Don't forget that there are many guestworkers from Turkey enjoying high wages and a superior lifestyle in Germany, and many have crossed the border over here in Alsace. They live quietly, decently and have been accepted without negative comment by the locals. Give us a break.

You have every right to your opinion, and I am not trying to criticise you or dispute your views, but please don't join the vocal minority criticising the French (usually on any random topic) without considering the wider view.

Kind regards

I fully agree with this part of you post it's just like trying to read a legal document for a non legal person you just cannot understand what is being said.

I think they are using the old adage bullshit baffels brains so that people will just say yes to get them off their backs, but it looks as though it has back fired on them. Like all political parties they only tell you what they want you to know not what you need to know.

wayne + karen, I wouldn't take any notice of the original post on this topic. The poster took on dual identities to post messages on different topics throughout the forum telling everyone not to buy in Bulgaria. What their motives were, I've no idea, but they've been banned.

Hi Alsacienne,
I am not bashing the french for fun. I did ask what implication the no vote was in relation to countries wanting to join the EU. All political commentries I have heard say that this is a demo against their own government and very little to do with Europe. I suppose that past history of french demos ie, port blockades, lamb burning etc have coloured my judgement. i feel it's typical of the nation to put their own interests first to the detriment of others.
I am a europhobe, and by nature a cynic. I fear for Turkey if they are allowed to join. But it is their choice, not that that will be an issue now.
As for Turks working in Eu countries I fail to see your point. They have jumped through loads of legal hoops and red tape just to leave the country. They, like anyone else, should get the rewards for working hard.

Thanks for your reply Chelsea Boy. I understand that you aren't French bashing ... at least you are honest enough to come out and say that, and I think that the Turkish guestworkers in the EU should have the same rights as the nationals, so I'm really trying to say that there is no reason for the French to get uptight about the Turks, who are much appreciated in this area of France because they work hard and deserve all the pay they get.

I suspect the no vote was a wake-up call to the French government - changes are already afoot - but was in no way connected to Turkey's application to join the EU as soon as possible.

At least France has opened the door for other countries to state their real feelings ... such as perhaps Holland tomorrow, and the UK ... sometime in the future, if Tony B doesn't get cold feet.

If they are going to the trouble of finding forums like this. What else are they up to. Would sooner invest in Croatia and support there ecconomy.

I thought Bulgaria would of liked to of joined the E.U. E.T.C.
