Hi all
Do you buy new bikinis beach bag flip flips every year for your holiday or reuse? Just wondered I usually use same beachbag etc and then buy a few new bikinis always buy new flips flops.
As I only wear/use for a week thinking maybe this is wasting money wondered about you guys?
My beachbag I've had for a few years now, as I like the size of it. I usually buy at least one new bikini every year, then as I buy a new one, I discard an old one. Saying that, one of my bikinis is around 8 years old and still going strong, while some of the cheaper ones I've bought have been thrown out after 2 summers. I've bought 2 new ones for this year. I've got 3 pairs of flip flops with plenty of wear left in them, one pair has only been worn half a dozen times, so I haven't bought any more this year. Hubby's had a new pair though - I paid over the odds at £15 in Debenhams for them. He wore them in Egypt at Easter, and said they're the comfiest pair he's ever had.
I have a couple of pairs of flip flops but the best ones I've had for 10 years! I only really wear them on beach holidays and they were expensive. So no I don't buy them every year. I've had my beach bag for ages too.
I have not bought a lot new this year - found 2 bikinis with the labels still on that I bought last year and the same for 2 beach kaftans!!!! Will look around for a pair of flip flops for using by the pool though.
i usually buy at least 1 new bikini and usually buy new flip flops as i only buy cheap ones so it dont matter if they get ruined
Decided to do away with bikinis this year and go for 50s style costumes. Being a perfect size 13 (too plump for size 12 too slim for 14) I won't waste any holiday time holding the jelly belly in! Hoorah! Paid dear for the costumes so they should last a few holidays.
I will always buy new flip flops though, I only buy cheapy ones so it doesn't matter about throwing them away as they always get tatty from the pool/beach etc.
Always buy a couple of new bikinis before my hols, and I am addicted to buying summer shoes. This year I took 11 pairs .
flip-flops, well, I have 2 pairs of roxy ones that've been to the ends of the earth and back and still going strong ! I wear nowt but flipflops the whole summer if I can, so I always buy a few cheap pairs too.
I've got a fair few bikinis, although why Im still wearing them with a body like mine I'll never know . I only have one tankini but the time has come now where i need to invest in a few more of those . I usually buy one or two every year and one of the very old washed out ones gets discarded but I cant get away with going into primark and buying a heap of them . I have to spend a bit more money and get a decent quality one that my boobs can actually fit in and give me that much needed lift . I do draw the line at little bikini bottoms and go for the short style ones
I have a purple mesh beach bag with an attached purse which is really practical- I've had it for quite a few years now but love it. As for flip flops, I used to buy new every year but since I've developed a bad foot, I stick with the ones I know are comfy.
I bought my beach bag a couple of years ago which is good one and was reduced from something like £35 down to £20 so I don't need a new one. I've got about 4 pairs of flip flops which are still in good nick so I doubt I'll get any more unless I see a pair I fancy but I could do with some new open toe mule type things to wear in the evening. Bikini's I've got 3 but I might get another one if again I see something that takes my fancy.
I have a new beach bag but only because it came free when I bought something from a catalogue and I splashed out on a £1.50 pair of flip flps from Primark
If only I could wear a bikini! I'm still afraid that Greenpeace will mount a rescue operation if I lie on the beach too long.

i've had to give them up because the hairy chest just doesn't look right , and i kept getting funny looks
My leather sandals are lasting quite well (and no i don't wear white socks with them !) i think i bought them in Egypt a few years ago , the best ones i had were from Bali , but when i was on holiday in Zanzibar we used to talk to the beach guys and i wanted to buy quite a few wood carvings and one of them wanted my sandals instead of cash, i was reluctant to let them go but he was offering loads of carvings , so i handed them over and said try them on and he never wore them he just placed them by the doorway of his beach shack , the guy had threadbare clothes and these sandals were his prized possession , in the end i left them loads of t- shirts, polo shirts and shorts , not because i felt sorry for them but i had no room in the case for my new carvings I actually have a beach vest that is lime green , its a bit weathered and worn, but its 15 years old and i just think of all the places iv'e taken it , i always feel compelled to take it with me.
One thing i have noticed when in airports or in resort is the amount of new trainers people are wearing, it seems a lot of people must buy new trainers when going on holiday

Can't get my head round the new trainers thing. I end up nudging my OH and pointing them all out... I mean firstly there gonna get filthy on the plane, secondly the last thing I want on my feet on holiday when my feet are hot and I'm walking more than at home is brand new trainers.
The best ones are when you see a family and Dad and boys all have matching sportswear AND trainers...
Sorry - back to topic. My flip flops are now on holiday No7 or 8. New swim shorts this year as old pairs about 4 years old (7-8 holidays) and beach bag is ancient (will be replaced when it breaks)
Trainers I do get my hubby and daughter new trainers every year but always get them about 6 weeks before we go so that they can be worn in and some of the brightness dulls. It is funny and we very often sit at the airpot "new trainer" spotting.
I never wear trainers on holidays- don't think they're a good look with a bikini or evening wear I only pack a pair of running trainers for hubby as he likes to go for early morning runs.
I have bought three new tankini's for this years holiday to add to the two new ones i bought last year , have just been given a new beach bag courtesy of my daughter it was a freebie from work it also contains a elemis travel size skin lotions , never wear trainers at home so would never buy new to wear on holiday

it's like they've had a day out at JJB sports, soccer city, sports direct or whatever they call themselves these days, and most of them appear to have never taken part in any sporting activity for a long time
