Hi, we are off to Alvor on the 1st of September and my friend has said we MUST visit a restaurant/bar they went to a few years ago. They loved it so much they went every night. The only thing is she can't remmeber what it's called or how they got to it except it's right on the edge of the sea and you kind of either have to walk in the sea to get to it (?) or go through a cave (??). Sounds very bizarre to me but I am intrigued! Anyone have any ideas what's it's called or directions??
Thanks
Is it possible it is one of the bars in the coves between Alvor and Praia Du Rocha around Praia Du Vau which is a couple of miles from Alvor??
The only place I can think of from your description is a bar situated down on the beach amongst the cliffs between Alvor and Pria du Vau. I can't remember the name but it belongs to a rivate complex of villas beginning with a "P". To get to it you need to walk along the beach out of Alvor towards the Alvor Pria Hotel (or Delfim Hotel which is easier to spot), keep walking through the caves (MAKING SURE YOU GET THE TIME TIDES RIGHT OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE CUT OFF BY THE SEA), and you will come to it at the bottom of some steps.
The SAFER way to get to it is again walk towards Alvor Pria Hotel, just after the hotel take the small steep track on your left off the beach, turn right at the top (you will come to a grassed area with detached villas), contine walking along the cliff top for approx 10 minutes you will then come to a set of steps which lead down to this bar (there is a lift but I believe it is for residents only).
I've seen this bar many times but when we go between November and February it is always closed.
From the Prainha resort you get to it via a Lift. It is kind of on the beach and it is a cute restaurant. Prainha beach is next to the 3 irmãos beach in Alvor.
