I have spent ages looking for flights to Bodrum and have finally found one going 5th August for 2½ weeks for £991 for 4 seats, Fly Thomas Cook, evening and day flights. Does this sound a good price? It is a lot better than anything I have found so far, they were more like £350 - £400 each but I don't want to book if I can find a better deal elsewhere
Kedi
For high season, I think that sounds like a good price - I wonder though if free childs places might make a package around the same price? Possibly not for high season though (I've never looked for August, so don't know what chance there is of getting free child places at that time of year).
It sounds a good price to me for August Kedi. More like the average prices we were seeing a couple of years ago for flights over the school summer holidays.
I thought it sounded good too, we haven' been in august before but now our oldest is at school we have to stick to school holidays. I've not really looked at packages as we are hoping to stay in a friend's apartment, I did have a quick look a few months back and they were very expensive. I think I will have to convince my husband it sounds a good price so we can book!
Have you had a look cyprus-turkish airways Kedi . Their website is a bit of a pain and it helps if you can speak a little turkish but my nephew (and turkish wife) used them over the summer holidays this year and thought they were excellent . I saw a couple of their planes at Bodrum this year so Im assuming they fly there but not sure from what UK airports. worth a look
I don't think they fly direct to Bodrum, I have travelled with them in winter and they went form London to Izmir or Dalaman. My husband is Turkish so I will get him to have a look at the website. Thanks.
That is another problem we face, we are restricted to which airlines we can use because some don't allow Turkish Nationals to fly on a flight only, Thomsons and First Choice being two of them.
You could maybe have a look at a cheap package with say goldtrail and then just use the flights . Many recommend this but then you would be restricted to 7 or 14 days .

I checked their prices out and they seem quite good, but concerns me that if you look at their fleet they only have 5 aircraft, so if anything technical happened they prob wouldnt have a spare aircraft.

In my experience, for short haul flights it is best to just go with the fare or schedule that suits you, and to not look too far into it with regards to fleets, likelihood of delays etc.
Kthy airline website does have English translation also.
My nephew was very pleased with them and they flew in August . Him and his wife both flew in and out of Izmir on different days because they have an apartment there and she was staying longer . No delays either way so that was 4 flights in total . He said they were better than BA whom they normally use .
i have never had a problem with cyprus-turkish airways always been very good
KTHY's website can be a bit temperamental! I've not come across them before Lynwesties post so I checked for 3 seats to Dalaman and it routed me to Dalaman, then to Cyprus, then back to Dalaman and the return to the UK was Dalaman/Cyprus/Dalaman/UK! There didn't seem to be any way of removing sectors and the cost of this jaunt was a hefty £2000 in July. Hopefully this is just a glitch and you can book direct flights without having to visit Cyprus too?!
or heathrow to dalaman , same dates £191 including taxes . This is looking very good.
cazz where do you want to fly from
Steve, to be honest, in the middle of August Thomas Cook's fleet will be one of the most utilised in Europe, operating almost 24/7. Most charter airlines won't have spare aircraft hanging around in August. Thomas Cook will have one spare aircraft on 4 days of the week this Summer, covering a fleet of 43. So you're only as likely to have a delay as you are on the next airline.

Hi Steve
I can see what you are saying.
We are flying with Thomas Cook in June we can avoid the Summer Holidaysand usually go in early June so prices are not usually a problem for us. We have paid with Thomas Cook £ 200 15 nights. The holiday in total for both of us have cost us £540 including transfers.

Sorry, Lyn, I was just doing a test I have 3 seats booked with Easyjet LGW/DLM 17th July-3rd August for £428 and wanted to see how they compared but to be fair these seats were booked as soon as Easyjet released their prices. I need to get 2 seats over the October half term for 7/8 nights so will look at KTHY again.
At least you can be confident you have a good price there Cazz For anyone still trying to get a good price over the summer this may be the answer, from the south at least.
I'm still perservering with the KTHY site. I have found some good deals but a word of warning, the system seems to change airports sometimes to suit your dates. I was just about to book an October flight when I noticed at the last minute it departed from Stansted and returned to Gatwick
