as i remember it..................

on the plane you will ge given some kind of customs form to fill in.

fill it in.

hand the card over at passprt control along with your passport and the above form. the card will get stamped and returned to you.

just before you get to luggage claim someone will want the card from you. hand it over, they retain it. thats it.

when returning home you will pay the departure tax when checking in (we did with thompson anyways)

thanks very much for the info sent I thought that sending for the tourist cards prior to travelling would save us filling in forms etc on the journey. maybe not? Anyway thanks again :?

Hi Beckyboo

I have been to the Dominican twice and we are going again this year.

We have always sent for our visas before we go. As I understand it they are different this year, but I would assume that you do not have to fill another form in when you get there. What would be the point of sending for it other wise. If any is interested the price has gone up to £10.

Perhaps someone knows differently?

I would keep a few extra dollar bills for when you pass through customs and almost reach your coach. You WILL be assisted by gentlemen who will carry your luggage to your coach and will be happy to accept a dollar a bag for their troubles.
You could get stressed about this, but a very firm NO thank you might be enough. If not just accept that the couple of dollars they take from you might be all they make all day, and relax. Pay the man and start your holiday chilled out.

EVERYONE needs to fill out the form handed to you on the plane wether you got your visa before hand or not. We got ours beforehand and asked the flight attendand if we needed to fill them in as we allready had the visas. We where told YES

You also have to fill another one in for your return flight. Our rep put one under our hotel room door along with some check out info the day before leaving.

I'm a little confused, is it easier to have the cards beforehand or just do it all on the fly?

I've been 6 times and have never once bothered to get them in advance and it has never taken more than 10 mins to get them once we arrived. The last couple of times we didn't even need to fill in the tourist visa forms - all they were interested in was our $10.

You will still need to fill in your customs forms though which will be given out on the plane (these are different from the tourist visa forms) and you cannot get these in advance.

Hi

I know this isnt strictly speaking about the Gran Ventana but we go to this hotel in 3 weeks and I have sent for the Tourist Cards that are needed beforehand from the Dominican Embassy in London. They arrived this morning and look just like Theme Park tickets, I thought there was a portion that you kept to be used on exit. Presumably these are what are now being issued and I will haveno problems using them on arrival but I just cant help thinking this is another thing to fuss about..... as if I havent enough at the moment. Can someone please put my mind at rest.

:?
*Edit. Split from Gran Ventana topic. Pippy*

according to another website forum, this is how they are now, and when you arrive you just hand it all in and there is nothing to keep. pm me and i will tell you the other website.

When we received our new Visa cards there is a small letter in with them stating that the new Visa's replace the green forms. So reading that I assume that you do not have to fill in any more forms. :?

We have just returned from DR and travelled with Airtours. We were given froms to fill in for each passenger on the plane and took these to a desk at the airport along with our 10 dollars per person. We then went to passport control and then on to collect out bags. We did have to wait for a while to pay the 10 dollars per person but we were still waiting to collect out bags before they arrived. So no matter if you pay before you go or pay at the airport, everyone seems to get to the coaches at the same time. Do watch out for the guy at the coaches who throw your bags on the coach then asks for forty dollars. We gave him 4 but some on the coach gave him what he asked for.

Hello,
I am off to the Dominican Republic in November 06. I have tourist card (only took three days) and they have sent me a blue form. I am presuming that I just fill in the blue form and head straight for passport control. There is no tear off strip..so do you get something different on the plane?

Anyone heard of VIP transfers...Any information on safe transfers if they dont turn up ?

Thanks

Just got back from Punta Cana. Its $10 each entry and you fill in a form which they give you on the plane before you land. When you leave its $20 each, same form to fill in which your rep will give you on the way to the airport. make sure you have some $ as if you offer £ , they will ask for £10 entry and £20 exit.

Sorry to bring this up again :(
Is this still the same or is the visa and departure tax included in the price of your holiday? I thought I read this somewhere but maybe that is Cuba I am thinking about :que
We are going to Dom Rep in June with Thomas Cook.
Thanks in advance
