All the trips were superb except those offered by Jewel in the Crown. There was an hitch with every one booked with them, with the SCUBA diving the rep booked it for the same day as the canoeing trip which was booked with JITC, this was sorted out and a great day was had by all. With the canoeing athough it was enjoyable it was disorganised and there was no one to meet us at Patara beach to tell us the arrangements for pick-up.
The Dalyan Farwell was sold as an relaxing way to spend your last day at a resort nearer the airport spending the afternoon on the Dalyan delta visiting the mud baths and Iztuzu beach, that part was fine. We left our hotel at 07.30 and thanks to change in departure times that the rep had not told the hotel we did not have time for a proper breakfast. We and anonther couple had checked that a carpet weavers would not be included , guess where we meet up with our rep!
The rep had told us that the hotel would be 4*, it was an ungraded dump, it was dirty, our rooms were not ready, we asked for 3 rooms there for ourselves and 4 adult sons, we got 1 double and 4 beded room with a double bed and two singles,(sons not happy).
Food was terrible first at a resturant for lunch then at the hotel which had no kitchen and brought it in from outside, the first time we could not eat a meze it was awful and the hot main meal was cold rice and chips a small rissole and 2 chicken wing tips that would have made a small childs meal. We found a nice local bar in Dalyan and had a cheap tasty meal there with a freindly service and a free fruit platter.
When it was time for our pick-up and transfer to the Airport there was no rep and we were dropped and left to fend for ourselves. Our flight had been delayed by two hours and there was no check-in available for our flight. No one seemed to know what was going on and we were hanging around in a crowded check-in area for an hour before we could start check-in which was a bit chaotic due to the restricted space.(I notice that a new airport is advertised for 2006, will this include a larger check-in area)
All in all it would have been more relaxing to stay at our lovely hotel and have the slightly longer transfer.
Jewel in the Crown travllers "don't" do the Dalyan tranfer.
We were booked on this last year....(2 adults,2 kids) - at 2300 the night before, we got back to our appartment to find a note pushed under our door telling us that the trip had been cancelled and that we could claim our refund by calling at the local office of the travel company!!!
Lucky escape!
and I liked the little hotel (Palme) i stayed in overnight, my pick up time was 2pm so I had an evening meal which was good and a breakfast. Dalyan is a delightful place and I had a pleasant time having a drink by the river. A shop there sells Ottoman shoes.
Like always everyone's got a different perspective.
I went on the Dalyan transfer (with Goldtrail), the mud baths were a laugh and the river trip/beach relaxing Like always everyone's got a different perspective.
The mud baths and river trip were great, tDalyan was lovely, should have visited as aseparate trip though and had a pleasant last day in a pleasant hotel.
