I don't think they're taking delivery of them until January 2013.

james 84,

All the information is on our What Aircraft? guide (link below), specifically the last sentance of theThomson Airways short haul section.

Thomson airways 787-8 registrations have been released. The first aircraft, due in January 2013 will be registered G-TUIA. The second, due in February 2013 will become G-TUIB. The third, due in March 2013 G-TUIC. The other 5 aircraft will be registered G-TUID-H as and when they are delivered.

There is a problem with the GEnX engines on 787s. Boeing has stopped all flying with GE engined planes, they are parked up at the factory.
This looks as if the January deliveries might be delayed, which doesn't surprise me! The old 767s will have to go on a little longer, or TUI can do the patriotic thing and order Rolls Royce engines instead.

Well when ever it will be I will be flying. Brewerdave are you smiling ;)

I have just looked on Wir5ed website giving news as at yesterday about the General Electric Engines and as you say either these or Rolls Royce engines can be used, apprarantly the RR engines have NOT been trouble free either and Nippon Airways grounds temporary their Dreamliner fleet.

A lot of people forget that many many parts and services for the GE-NX engine are produced in this country. Probably best to check facts before.

BEfree TODAY, I know perfectly well what you said.
BUT, the Yanks make a huge fuss when a RR engine goes t*ts up. So I am getting my own back!

Hi,

Booked 6th May Glasgow to Cancun on the Dreamliner got a great deal by booking early got Premium seats for the same price as Economy seats.
2 weeks in the Riu Palace Playacar this our 5th time at this hotel.
It's getting a refurb right now so re-opens in December.
I been checking the Dreamliner delivery schedule and even with the Genex engine hicup Thomsons first delivery on January looks on schedule, Gatwick and Manchester will fly the first Dreamliners to the Canaries and Balerics on short haul to train the crew on the new plane.

Cheers

Just been reading that the first Dreamliner for Thomsons is all but finished and the second is being built so fingers crossed May timetable is definitely running to schedule.......... 34 weeks and 6 days until I get to have a go in one :cheers

The first one is undergoing final assembly (position one ??) but the engines aren't attached (position three ??) from what I have read, but even when it is fully assembled there's a way to go between that and delivery - fingers crossed!

It'll have an extensive flight test programme to go through before the first is delivered in January as well as it's interior so a couple of months and we should see the first one in Manchester.
