Roll on August
The rooms look clean and modern, for me the food and service is the acid test (not literally I hope ) although we have paid £600pp less than when we went to Excellence in Mexico so if it's even close to that I will be chuffed.
Let us all know how you get on Ardwyn. It's overlall rating on the other site has increased due to all the good reviews (bar 1). We got a great deal last August when we booked for July this year. Booked flight and accomodation seperate which helped. Even managed to squeeze premium out of it for the flight.
What date are you going in July Govan?
I'm off to the Dreams Punta Cana, not Dreams La Romana, Govan. Didn't know if you realised that.
Off course I did.
My husband and I have just booked to visit at the end of May. Can anyone tell me about how much to tip in the hotel if any? We went to Barbados a few years ago and as a fully inclusive all tips were included. I don't want to get caught out either way.
Thanks
Tipping is at your own discretion but usually $US1/$US5 all depending on service either to bar staff or waiters, chambermaids you can tip daily or at the end of your stay there.
There is nothing set in stone, you dont have to tip if you dont want to, but tips are appreciated by staff.
Angie.
Regarding the tipping, just go back from Dreams Punta Cana and the Rep told us that, Angie34 says it is at your own discretion. The Americans and Canadians seem to tip a hell of a lot, but that is their culture and they usually pay a lot less than us to get there as it is short haul. We gave a small tip now and again, then gave a bigger tip at the end of the holiday to staff we became more friendly with.
The staff are so friendly whether you tip them or not, but you may get slightly quicker service from some if you are like the Yanks and tip almost every time!
Just read a few new reviews on this hotel on another website and was drawn to a comment about a gent being refused entry into one of the restaurants because he was wearing trainers. I was just wondering whether there was a dress code in all the restaurants and what sort of footwear is acceptable. Being so warm, hubby will be wearing a mixture of three quarter trousers and full length linen trousers - both types will look silly with a proper pair of shoes. He normally wears a leather mule type sandal would this be acceptable. I'm particularly looking for answers from people who have been to this hotel during the last year. Thanks
After just having returned from Dreams Punta Cana, who has the same dress code policy in some of their restaurants, a mule sandal will be fine. My hubby also wore linen trousers, full length, and would either wear some smart brown leather flip flops, or jospeh siebel mules for example. These were fine it, it's purely trainers and sports type wear they don't allow.
Great. Thanks for the reply Lisa. Hope you had a good time in Punta Cana.
Has anybody been to this resort recently and can you recommend any ground floor rooms. As much info as possible would be appreciated.
We were there last August, so fire away with any questions. There were loads of 1st flor rooms, just send an e mail to the hotel a fortinght before you go and request one. We have a review in that section.
Can you tell me what the main pool was like. How easy was it to get in and out of pool? My wife struggles to use the ladders to get in and out. It would be useful if there were proper steps. How far is it to nearest shops, markets etc.
Here are some great photos of the infinity pool at Dreams La Romana.

Hope these are helpful to you.
