Live From Dreams La Romana.. okay, final full day today.. went into world cafe at 7-30a.m. for fruit drink and coffee. fruit drink rather yuk today, so settled for a nice cup of black coffee. at 7-45 a.m. a loud roaring , and i mean loud, started. not immediately apparent what it was, until we saw the volumes of water coming off of the roof of cafe. yep, a flash storm, so much water that within a minute everything not under cover was under water. this resort has covered walk ways from rooms to everywhere essential, so guests can still get around even when a storm is on, some one really thought about the layout. okay, made way down to beach area under the covered walk ways, still raining heavy, so went into seaside grill ( open for continental breakfast) and had a really nice juice drink..much better that at the world cafe, and another black coffee. lovely setting, and relaxed, sat there for almost an hour until the rain stopped. next hour or so , rain on and off , but not serious. took a stroll along beach, and was drawn to a loud game of ..bowls..you know that game where they try to chuck a ball as near to a target ball as possible. well , this game was between a large group of men and women of ages ranging from 45 to 60. what kept me rooted and watching for the next 15 minutes was the antics of the elderly. really loud near the mark comments to each of the opposing team when a ball did not go where intended, and this was also the que for body movements and gestures that would do the teenager crowd justice. the most amazing sight i have seen this trip, and not even lunch. ... day is a bit iffy..cloud, few showers, some sun, but still pretty hot and humid. will probably not log on tomorrow, the start of a long day travelling back to u k .. to those coming out to this resort, my advice is to make as much use as you can of the ala carte restaurants, as these really make this resort , meals are good, in a really nice setting. best wishes to all Gingerdennis

We are considering this hotel for next July. I have a couple of queries if anyone can help

1. We will not fit into one room. Are there interconnecting rooms and if so how easy is it to got them?
2. Bit concerned about July in that if its anything like Florida then there will be frequent wet spells of a couple of hours maybe half the days we are there. Is the hotel geared up for activities indoors. Don't particularly want to be sitting around looking at the rain long periods of time.

Will be posting a review, soon as I can find the time, but just to let the people know who helped me choose Dreams (mainly Shirley, and Angie helped with the questions) that we had a great time and it sure was nice to be in the 30 plus heat (in the shade!) instead of this freezing weather. Resort after all my checking was pretty much as I imagined it would be, had a lovely room and really enjoyed my birthday! Would deffo consider a Dreams resort again, so thanks again!

Hi Steph,

I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday. I certainly wish I'd been there instead of in this icy cold weather :( I'll look forward to reading your review when you get a chance to post it.

Hi,

Have finally posted my review on Dreams LR. I have not wrote a review before so found it quite hard to condense the fortnight into a review, so hopefully it is ok. There is so many things you think are important and want to put in, but it really just has to be the basics and honestly, that is as basic as I could make it!

Hi Steph,
Thanks for posting your review. Just off to have a look at it now (if it's been approved by the mods yet) to see if it evokes memories of our time there.

My parents are off here in November 2011 for my mum's 50th. So I've pointed my dad in the direction of this thread.

Has anyone been to the DREAMS LA ROMANA property recently as we are going in May. Did this hotel use to be called 'Casa del mar' or something ?

Any information would be most welcome ?

Hi Rotterdam - just to avoid confusion, the Dreams La Romana Bayahibe is in the Dominican Republic - not Cuba. :) One of the mods will probably move your post to the correct forum. We stayed here as a group of 6 adults duing the summer of 2009. Two of our reports can be found here
http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/holiday_truths/hotel_reviews/9554/Dreams%20La%20Romana%20Resort%20&%20Spa/
They are the 3rd and 4th down. If there's anything specific I can help with, I'll do my best to answer your questions.

:whoops

What I'm trying find out about the new 'Dreams La Romana' are the Block numbers ? Have they moved from the ones we knew back in 2005 when it was called the 'Casa Del Mar' ?? If you or anyone could help us find any map layout of the new 'Dreams' it would be a help ?

Does that makes sense ?

If you look on the Dreams website it does show a layout of the resort, but not the numbers of the blocks. They go 1 - 7 with the last two being preferred, we were put in block 7 (which was lovely and quiet) but did not pay for the upgrade.

Sorry!!!, but if you look on another popular forum they have some Dreams specialists (who go a lot) and there is all sorts of details on there, you could deffo get more info on there. People ask very specific info on particular rooms.
