We would like to hire a car when we go to Kos in September but I'm a little worried about being able to find the resort as we dont arrive until midnight.
We will be staying at The Kos Aqua Beach Club in Tingaki.
Does anyone know if driving is hard over there ?
Hi Alex uk! We've been to Kos twice staying in Kos Town andKardamena. Each time we hired motor bikes. The roads in Kos are good - well signposted and if I remember correctly Tingaki isn't far from the airport. My father hired a jeep and took the grandchildren with him, and he didn't experience any problems. Kos is such a beautiful island it is well worth doing some sightseeing even if it's just to visit various beaches.
We've stayed in Tingaki and hired scooters and even ridden bicycles there. The roads are good and I don't think you'll have a problem finding the place even in the dark.
I've been to Kos before, just get on the main (only?) Kos Town -> Tingaki road and it'll head stright to the beach. Someone said in another post here that the aqua beach club is a right hand turn when you get to the beach and about 4K along the coast.
Don't know if this will help much, but it might give you a better idea where Tingaki is in relation to the airport.
Have a look at http://www.kefalos.com and in the left hand menu they have a map link. The map is "clickable", so you can enlarge sections to give you an idea of the road layout/route you're looking for.
I know they are based in Kefalos, not Tingaki, but the map might be of use.
Just a thought, but it might be easier to wait a day and hire when you get to the resort. See the place in daylight and get your bearings as it were.
(Might be cheaper as well, as a lot of places have good deals at the end of the season.)
Enjoy your holiday. Kos is a great island.
Andy.
We arived at 3am and got lost in the dark because of wrong directions given by the rep. We wandered around for hours and ended up ripping one of the tyres on our hire car....it cost us £60 to get it fixed!!
There is a twisty downhill bit about 2miles from airport, and roads are not well lit.
Can send you a ISBN number for a good map so you can order it.
