Hi Sue
thanks for the reply and confirmation re the free bus travel (not) with the Dublin Pass.
I wondered if I'd missed something.
As you see we're planning on doing the city bus tour (€15 & 20% discount if booked online) that will take care of the most distant of attractions, everything else we want to see will be within walking distance for us so we'll not bother with the Freedom Pass at all.
The Dublin Pass (15% discount on 2 day pass if booked online) will take care of the admissions.
We're staying just opposite Trinity College so we're quite a bit more central than you were.
I'm sure we'll love Dublin, can't wait.
Thanks again.
It was late opening on the day I was there and when I decided to go back to O'Connell street took the bus. Was trying to find the 2 euro's a few cents for the fare and the driver just said oh on you go and rest yourself!!
Yes I was tired after being on the early flight from L/B
Walk your legs and feet off but you will enjoy it I am sure.
Sue
It is not going to be cheap, especially with the unfavourable Euro exchange rate.

Expect London prices and more!
On the subject of Euros. My Mum has given me some $ left over from her recent trip to Mexico. I'm planning on buying some Euros (can't remember how to do the Euro sign!) with this money but don't know the best way to go about it.
I've only got a very small amount to change up but I'm going to need every Euro I can get my hands on for my two day trip so it's worth exchanging them! I've got 50USD. Should I exchange them for Euros, or for GBP then Euros? There may be a really obvious answer to this question
You can work out the Interbank rate at http://www.xe.com but you will get the tourist rate when you change them which is a few cents less per $.

That's great, thanks Luci!
Just enjoy spending them> Have a great time there!!
Unfortunately I won't have a great deal of time to appreciate the city other than on the Tuesday night because all of Wednesday the 13th of August will be spent at Marlay Park, first queueing then gigging!
However, I will make the most of it and maybe return one day specifically to see Dublin as I know it's a very popular destination.
I'm still looking forward to my short time there though, the stay at the hostel should be fun and one of the many people I'll be meeting up with over there is a Dubliner so will be on hand should we need any advice.
In fact, she will be waiting at the airport from about 9am Tuesday morning until about 6pm to greet each and every one of us as our flights arrive! By that time there will be approx 100 people!
I have now written the review as requested and I see that it has been posted. Very SWIFT as I only submitted it yesterday.
Thanks for the detailed review Sue, hopefully it might help others make a decision about whether to visit the
This is run by students and costs €10 INCLUDING entrance to The Book of Kells which costs €8, so for €2 you get shown round the college with the various buildings pointed out and anecdotes told about them.
It beats just wandering about looking at the buildings.
There are quite a few tours during the day, it lasts 30 minutes and ends a few yards from the entrance to the Book of Kells.
Note: you don't get priority entrance with the tour.
You can do the tour without the Book of Kells entrance fee but it costs €5.
The young guy (a second year student) who took our tour was great.
If anyone has any questions on good vegetarian/vegan places to eat do ask me as I tried several of them, and was impressed!
Loved Dublin
Barnacles is a great place to stay if all you want is somewhere to sleep but would also like to meet like-minded people.
We ate out at EDDIE ROCKETS (O'Connell Street), good service and tasty food.
You can read my review HERE. A few people have sent me PMs asking if we had fun, we most certainly did! Met some truly lovely people, all fellow fans of course! I took a few photos which can be seen HERE (for those who also asked about the V Festival you'll find that set there too).
I would definitley like to return to Dublin and take the time to explore the city. What we did see of it we liked (despite landing in the most torrential rain I have ever seen!).
Oh, and Dublin's taxi drivers are a breed unto themselves!
Near to the centre of it all without being to close to all the noise?
Also a good price without being to run down.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.
Thanks people.

See my review for Barnacles. They have rooms for larger groups and the place is clean and modern.
