Last year we found the perfume was about the same price at newcastle airport and benidorm. Prices in alicante airport were a tad dearer but I can't say for this year as we havn't been yet.

To be honest I have found our local Bodycare shop better on prices than the "Duty Free" places.

Don't know if you have one near you. I'm in the North West (Turn left at the Lake District) area.

Yeh, We have a Bodycare and it's very reasonable, Asda is too.

I have found perfumes to be substantially cheaper here in certain shops on our local high street rather than to buy abroad now.
Its worth shopping around as there are some great prices to be had for quality perfumes, etc.
Try places like Semi-chem, Superdrug, Asda, Woolworths, Ethel Austin.

you save about a fiver at the duty free in alicante , not worth the hassle , your better off like me , and try on every freebie at the airport , i always smell nice flying home to scotland , unlike some of my compatriots. 8)

Hiya Taggy.
It depends what you are buying, for example Issy Mikaye aftershave was around £21 the last time I bought some for the son in East Midlands airport, (Xmas) but Dave had forgotten to pack any aftershave, so we opened the one I had bought for the son and bought some more to replace it in Benidorm costing £24.00....I didn't want to run the risk of Alicante Airport not stocking it.

I noticed on my last visit that quite a few Perfume shops have close down...the one in Calle Gambo, one on Avda Mediterraneo in Rincon de loix and one a few doors down on the corner from the Bodyshop in the old town.
However, I buy professional products that are not easily available where I live and usually I have to buy from the TV via QVC.
The shop near the "bodyshop" stocked products made by "Decleor" and they were cheaper than QVC when you have added the P+P that they charge, so I'm not too happy that they have closed down in Benidorm.

Valentinos (spel?) on the Levante promenade with the blue canopy/awnings are very competitive and stock products made by Gatineau which are cheaper than anywhere else I have found in the UK, including QVC and you cannot get these at the airports, it's usually Lancome and Clarins.

Having made several purchases over the years at Valentinos on these products, they have got to know me and instead of giving me a few freebie samples of perfume, I tend to get free samples of expensive eye treatments and such like, made by Gatineau, which are great because these samples usually last the duration of the holiday and are excellent if you are just going away for a few days.

Dave says that I should just go down to the local DIY store, as polyfiller would do a better job.

Cheers all, just wondered what the concensus would be never having directly compared prices, but knew they did'nt appear particularily cheaper in any one location. Shame the one on Calle Gambo has closed always used to call in there and this time we are staying at the Avenida on the same street. Theres a smaller one further along on the same side which did a great range of Roger & Gallet soaps, which I hopes still there. It was in January!. Its just become tradition for me to buy some aftershave etc, on hol now...E'vonne says i've more ruddy products than her...not true by the way!!!

Best Regards - Taggy :)

Hi Taggy

We have bought perfume and aftershave for our two in Benidorm and would have got most of them for about the same price or quite a bit cheaper here. We also found the duty free in Alicante Airport more expensive than the perfume shops in Benidorm.
  Sanji is the polyfiller cheaper in Benidorm because I could do some!!! Last freebie I got in a perfume and make up shop was a bag. Think I was supposed to wear it over my face.

On line there is fragrance direct which is cheap, I have used them a few times and found the prices unbeatable. There is a perfume shop in the old town that I have found reasonable which is tucked away by the lacoste shop.

Sanji, you should always buy your decleor from QVC as it funds my trips to Benidorm!!!. I've worked there for 10 years :D

Sanji: that perfume shop in the old town has recently re-opened and there is a new one just down the street towards the beach, near the Avenida Hotel.

I remember years ago you could always rely on stocking up on cheaper smellies in Spain, but that seems to have dissapeared.

Thanks dgutte
Do you mean the one near the "Bodyshop" at the top of Calle Alameda (I think) ? me and streets names don't go together

The one on Calle Gambo was a small one half way down the street, I don't mean the one on the end/corner facing Plaza Hispanidad.

I'm off to Benidorm soon, so I will check out the shop near the "bodyshop" if that is the one you mean, let's hope they have continued to stock "Decleor" products.

I buy all my Decleor and Gatineau products on Ebay, considerably lower prices than QVC or department stores. I have even received goods from ebay sellers in Canada. Up to now everything has been OK and you can often buy large salon sizes.

Yes, the one a few yards along from Body Shop. It emptied late last year but has now been restocked and re-opened.
