I know that in Goa you can get your teeth, eyes, wrinkles filled in, wobbly bits cut off, or made larger, have new noses, hair transplants, even botox fixed smiles, but one thing I have never read about is hearing aids!
Does any one know if you can get, inner ear canal, digital hearing aids, I have just received a quote for hubby for 1800 pounds, and that is cheap compared to some other quotes, Do they do hearing aids over there, or are they still using ear trumpets, and cow horns?
I'm sure I saw a poster for hearing tests in the new opticians next to the new Horizon bar and restaurant in Candolim, it's just down the road that goes down to the Whispering Palms on the right hand side, I would have thought if they do tests they will supply hearing aids and I bet they will probably be a lot cheaper than what your hubby was quoted.
Sorry, I'm not meaning to take the mickey..... Can't say I have seen them but as you can get practically everything else I expect that they might just also have hearing aids. I wonder whether they would be as good as those you get over here though. Hope someone else can advise on this, a good question, one I haven't seen posted before and I look forward to seeing your replies.

Doubt it. There's a lot of manufactured goods in India that are not very good quality at all. And with hearing aids being expensive I wouldn't take the risk. Maybe you want to take a vacation in China or Korea?
Finally a post that i can reply to. I unfortunately lost some of my hearing some months ago, about 30% in each ear and had to consult for hearing aids. Dr. Sansgiri - an ENT specialist in Panjim is very good, and represents Siemens, which makes among the world's finest hearing aids. The range is quite expensive and can be anywhere from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 each depending on what you really like / need. The hearing aids are digital and very good. From the more obvious, to the in the canal hearing aids to the completely in the canal hearing aids, with one mic, or two mics - its a matter of what you want. I found them to be resonably priced, and very good quality. They come with a warranty period of a year (i think) and since its Siemens, there are world wide service centres. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the answer smartpati, that sounds really cheap even the top quality ones are only around 600 pounds that makes a heck of a difference, can you please give me his address and phone number if you have it, I will definitly check this oput, I will just continue to scream at hubby until then thankyou Gayle.
Have sent you a pm with the phone numbers. Dr. Sandeep Sansgiri is in Panjim. I went to his clinic in Panjim, I dont have the address, but the building for his clinic is the same building as the stationery shop - JD Fernandez.
The entrance to the building is next to a curio / antique shop, which sells cross pens and refills among other things. Other landmarks are near a garment / cloth shop called Velho & Filho.
But best to call and check with his receptionist.
Cheers
As a aid user for a good many years I would be very cautious of buying this sort of instrument from Goa unless I lived there.
I have no doubt that the quality etc is of the best from the world leading brands but they do go wrong especially in the first few months of buying, not only that but getting them set to your needs can be a long drawn out job, even with the latest technology.
I bought Widex aids for the secound time last year and after 6 months of backwards and forwarding to the hearing centre they finally got them right
I may have paid quite a lot more than I would in Goa but at least I have the piece of mind that if they do go wrong I can get them sorted out very quickly and without a load of hassle. However if you are going to go ahead this is one I considered going to
Sound Hearing Centre
203 2nd floor
Citi Centre
Beside Sesa Ghor
Patto
Panaji

Good luck whichever way you decide to go
