We went to East meets West in February and it was the highlight of our holiday. We were so looking forward to a repeat visit during our stay over the last 2 weeks. The first evening we went the heavens opened and we had to eat under cover which did spoilt it. The food didnt seem as good as we had previously had there but we put it down to the bad weather and made a return visit the next week. We were shown to a table out of the way and not at all comfortable. We asked 3 times if we could move to another table and our request was ignored even though there were plenty of free tables. I ordered a Pimms which was on the menu but was told they didnt have any. The waiter brought my husband a small Kingfisher when he had ordered a large one and when he pointed this out we were made to feel a nuisance, not a valued customer and at this point we paid for our drinks and left to eat elsewhere. The service has certainly gone downhill to previous years and we found lots of places to eat with far better food and more aminiable staff. Some of our favourites were Posh, Casa Portugese, Souymans Kitchen,Take 5, Top Nosh, Bobs Inn, and Fishermans Cove. The one we enjoyed most of all was After 7 which we visited twice. For a special night I would recommend A Reverie, it was really superb, with magical surroundings and excelllent service. The India summer special gin and tonic was amazing. The whole evening including drinks was £40 which blew the budget compared to what we had been paying but worth it for the experience.
